A. General ú (1) This procedure tells you how to install software in the FMC with the ú portable data loader. ú (2) If you install a new operational program (OPS) the databases and the ú performance factors go to their default values. You must install ú the databases again after the OPS installation. When a performance ú defaults database is not used, the performance factors must be put ú in manually.
NOTE: The op program and the performance defaults database are
____ loadable only on FMC P/Ns 10-62225-XXX with software update
ú (7, 8, 10) and subsequent. The software options database is loadable, as a separate database, only on FMC P/N 10-62225-XXX with software update (7.1, 8.1, 10) and
ú subsequent. These can only be loaded with a high speed (diskette) data loader.
ú (3) AIRPLANES WITH FMC P/N 10-62225-004; ú The operational program software (OPS) U10.3 and before should not ú be loaded into this FMC.
(4) The PDL interfaces with the FMC through the FMC data transfer unit receptacle. The PDL gets 115V AC, 400 Hz power through the receptacle. You can find the FMCS data transfer unit receptacle on the top of the P18-1 panel.
B. Special Tools and Equipment ú (1) 964-0400-006 (or equivalent) - High Speed Data Loader, Sundstrand, ú Redmond, WA ú ú NOTE: The Sundstrand PDL uses a diskette to load the software ú and is compatible with both low and high speed formats. ú ú The database loader is not a Boeing supplied item. This ú coverage is included for information only. See the data ú loader instructions, which are supplied by the vender. ú
