D. Procedure
(1) Do a check of FMC INFLIGHT FAULTS (AMM 22-02-10/101) to make sure that an FMC failure occurred.
NOTE: You can get data only for FMC failures from this procedure.

(2) Use the FMCPREP PC software to format the disk.
(a)
You must make a copy of the FMCPREP software on the root directory of a PC hard drive.
(b)
To format a disk, enter the text that follows on your PC: FMCPREP <drive>: <Airline ID>
where: <drive> is the letter "A" or "B" of the PC's 3.5-inch disk drive. <Airline ID> is the name of the airline maintenance site (11 characters maximum).
example: FMCPREP B: Cincinatti

(3) Make sure that the CDU display shows the MAINT BITE INDEX 1/1 page.
(4) If the CDU does not show the MAINT BITE INDEX 1/1 PAGE, do the steps
that follow:
(a) Push the INIT REF key on the CDU front panel to show the POS
INIT or PERF INIT page.
(b) Push the LSK adjacent to <INDEX to show the INIT REF INDEX 1/1
page.
(c) Push the LSK adjacent to MAINT> to show the MAINT BITE INDEX
1/1 page.
(5) Push the LSK adjacent to FMC DOWNLOAD>.
NOTE:____ To exit this page, push the LSK adjacent to <INDEX or push
the INIT/REF mode key.
(6) Make sure that you follow the directions on the CDU display.
(7) Push the LSK adjacent to CONTINUE>.
NOTE:____ If you select the LSK adjacent to PRESS HERE TO EXIT>, the
FMC will do a software restart.
(8) Put the 3.5-inch disk that you formatted with the FMCPREP software
into the data loader disk drive.
NOTE:____ The disk used to do the download may contain the downloaded
data from the other FMC only. Any other type of data is not
allowed.
(9) The FMC will automatically start the data transfer sequence.
NOTE:____ When the data transfer is complete, the CDU will show
DOWNLOAD COMPLETE.
(10)
Push the eject button.
(11)
Remove the disk.
(12)
Push the LSK adjacent to PRESS HERE TO EXIT>.
