 (2)  The op program software is loadable, which provides a convenient way to update the software number. Each software number is assigned a unique update number. The current software number and update number can be found on the IDENT page 1/2 on the CDU under the OP PROGRAM line. The op program can be be loaded into the FMC using an Airborne Data Loader (ADL) or Portable Data Loader (PDL) in the same way the NDB is loaded.
 H.  Performance Data Base
 (1)  The systems performance data base is contained in the permanent program memory of the FMC. It consists of:
 (a)  
A detailed aerodynamic model of the airplane. The aerodynamic model includes basic high-speed drag polars, a buffet limit envelope, and stored values of the airplanes certified operating limits. The aerodynamic model also includes speed and altitude capability data that are required to support the adjustment of performance computations, for engine-out operating conditions.

 (b)  
A fuel flow and thrust model for the type of engine installed on the airplane. The model is used during computations of fuel flow, thrust, engine limits, and target values. Also the model is used for corrections due to the affects of air-conditioning, anti-icing, and air bleeds.

 (c)  
Like the Navigation Data Base and Op Program, the Performance Defaults Data Base can be loaded using an ADL or a PDL. The software options code, shown on the PERF FACTORS 1/1 page, can be loaded in the same way.


 I.  Data Loading
 (1)  
An ADL or PDL can be used to load the FMC software. When the software is loaded into the FMC, the primary FMC is the FMC that will be loaded.

 (2)  
The functional discretes that enable the data load are switched through FMCS TRANSFER RELAY No. 1. The data input lines are hardwired to both FMCs.


 6.  EFIS Interface (Fig. 10)______________
 A.  The Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) receives FMCS navigation data in ARINC 429 format. The EFIS control panel (EFIS CP) allows the operator to select the mode and range to be displayed on the Electronic Horizontal Situation Indicator (EHSI).
 B.  The EHSI displays FMC data in four formats (Fig. 11): NAV, MAP, CTR MAP and PLAN. The format displayed depends upon the mode selected on the EFIS CP.
