1. General

ú A. This procedure contains these tasks:
ú (1) Installation of the FMC software with a data loader.
ú (2) Crossload of the FMC software.
ú (3) Configuration check of the FMC software.
ú (4) Installation of the FMC performance factors.
ú B. To read about software installation times and data loaders, do this task:
ú On-airplane Software Installation (AMM 20-15-11/201).
ú C. The airplane must be on the ground before you can do these tasks.
ú D. You use a Portable Data Base Loader (PDL) to install the software.
ú E. The procedure to download FMC BITE data is in the Flight Management
ú Computer System - Troubleshooting (AMM 34-62-01/101). See FMC Diagnostic
ú Data Transfer.
ú F. The FMC must contain these pieces of loadable software:
ú (1) Operational program (OPS)
ú (2) Navigational database (NDB)
ú G. The FMC can contain these pieces of loadable software:
ú (1) Software options database (OPC)
ú (2) Performance defaults database
ú (3) QRH takeoff speeds database
ú (4) ACARS datalink configuration database (Datalink)
ú (5) Flight plan database
ú H. If you install a new operational program, the databases are deleted. You
ú must install the databases again after the OPS program is installed.
ú I. AIRPLANES WITH FMC P/N 10-62225-004;
ú The operational software (OPS) U10.3 and before should not be loaded into
ú this FMC.
ú J. The operational program (OPS) does the functions related to the
ú operationand control of the FMC and its interfaces with other systems.
ú The OPS is loadable only on FMC P/Ns 10-62225-XXX for software updates
ú U7, 8, 10 and subsequent.
ú K. The navigation data base (NDB) contains all the necessary information to
