4. Fault Isolation

**ON A/C 001-049, 051-061, 101-105,
A. If the test gives the maintenance message VHF3 : NO DATA FROM CFDIU:
- replace the XCVR-VHF, 3 (1RC3) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-12-33-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 23-12-33-400-001).
(1) If the fault continues:
- do a check and repair the wiring of the BUS 4 OUTPUT signal, (from VHF 3 transceiver (1RC3) pins AB/6A, 6B to the first terminal block)(Ref. ASM 31-32/05).
R **ON A/C 062-099, 106-149, 151-199, 201-299, 301-399, 401-499,
A. If the test gives the maintenance message CFDIU (1TW)/VHF3 (1RC3):
- replace the XCVR-VHF, 3 (1RC3) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-12-33-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 23-12-33-400-001).
(1) If the fault continues:
- do a check and repair the wiring of the BUS 4 OUTPUT signal, (from VHF 3 transceiver (1RC3) pins AB/6A, 6B to the first terminal block)(Ref. ASM 31-32/05).

A. If the crew observation VHF1 - Background Noise on VHF1, with frequency
135.97 Mhz identifies the fault symptom:
- select the local ATIS frequency on VHF1.
(1) If no background noise is heard:
- no further action is necessary.
(2) If background noise is heard:
- do the fault isolation procedure (Ref. TASK 23-12-00-810-814).
