On the ENG section of the maintenance panel 50VU:

Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch is off.

Make sure that the warning notice to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2) is in position.

Make sure that the access platform is in position below the engine.

A. Before Installation
WARNING : DO NOT GET THE CLEANING FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. PUT_______ ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, GOGGLES AND A FACE MASK. USE THE FLUID IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS IF YOU GET CLEANING FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES, FLUSH IT AWAY WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
(1) Clean the surface of the seals (15) with a clean cloth made moist with methyl alcohol (Material No. CP11006).

B. Visual Inspection of the Seals
(1) Examine the seals for signs of oxidation, carbon flakes and foreign materials on the face that touches the duct flanges.
(2) Examine the surface and the edges of the seals for dents, pitting, cracks, scratches and distortion.
(3) If you cannot remove the foreign materials from the seals or if you find damage or distortion, replace the seals.

C. Installation of the IP Bleed Check Valve
CAUTION : MAKE SURE THE SMOOTH CIRCULAR SURFACE OF THE COUPLING IS_______ RADIALLY OUTBOARD FROM THE ENGINE. DO NOT LET THE COUPLING TOUCH ENGINE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE. DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE COULD OCCUR.
(1) Remove the blanking plugs from the disconnected line ends.
R R R CAUTION : MAKE SURE THAT THE KEYWAY ON THE VALVE IS ENGAGED WITH THE_______ KEY ON THE DUCT. IF THE POSITION OF THE KEYWAY IS NOT CORRECT, DAMAGE TO THE VALVE AND ITS PARTS CAN OCCUR.
R R (2) Put the IP bleed check valve (25) in position between the mid stage tee duct (5) and the fifth stage elbow duct (10). Make sure that the flow arrow is on the inboard side and points up.
NOTE : Make sure that the flow arrow on the valve points to the____ mid-stage tee duct.
R (3) Attach the IP bleed check valve (25) to the mid-stage tee duct (5)
with the coupling (20) and a E-seal (15) R (4) Attach the IP bleed check valve (25) to the fifth-stage elbow duct
(10) with coupling (20) and a E-seal (15). R (5) TORQUE the coupling nuts as follows:
(a)
TORQUE the coupling nuts to the value shown on the coupling.
(b)
Tap the perimeters of the couplings with a fiber hammer, then TORQUE the coupling nuts again.
(c)
Do the torque procedure two times, then TORQUE the coupling nuts again.

D. Preparation for the leak test
(1) There are two procedures to find the location of an air leak, at a pneumatic joint.
NOTE : Apply dry developer only on the connections of the removed
____ pneumatic components. Do not apply dry developer on all the pneumatic components.
You can apply developer, dry (Material No. CP3010) around the
pneumatic joints or you can install FOIL-ALUMINUM (Local Purchase)
around the pneumatic joint locations.
Use the steps that follow to apply foil, aluminum to the pneumatic
joint locations.
(a)
Wind the foil wrap around the joint one time.
(b)
Twist the seam of the foil wrap tight.
