 4. Procedure

 Subtask 36-11-49-420-053
 A. Installation of the Lower High Pressure (HP) Duct
 (1)
 Remove the blanking plugs from the lower HP duct (15), the engine ports, and the HP tee duct.

 (2)
 Apply a layer of anti-seize compound (Material No. CP2101) to the bolts (20).

 (3)
 Loosely install the lower HP duct (15) with serviceable E-seals (25) and the bolts (20).

 (4)
 Tighten the bolts:


 CAUTION : MAKE SURE THE SMOOTH CIRCULAR SURFACE OF THE COUPLING IS
_______ RADIALLY OUTBOARD FROM THE ENGINE. DO NOT LET THE COUPLING TOUCH ENGINE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE. DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENTS OR STRUCTURE COULD OCCUR.
 (a) Tighten the bolts (20) sufficiently to hold the lower duct (15) in position. Do not torque the bolts at this time.
 (5)
 Attach the lower HP duct (15) to the HP tee duct with a serviceable E-seal (5) and the coupling (10). Do not torque the coupling nut at this time.

 (6)
 Make sure that the lower HP duct (15) is in the correct position.

 (7)
 TORQUE the bolts (20) to between 45 and 60 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.67 m.daN). Safety the bolts with lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia (Material No. CP8001) or lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia (Material No. CP8002).

 (8)
 TORQUE the coupling nut as follows:

 (a)
 TORQUE the coupling nut to the value shown on the coupling.

 (b)
 Tap the perimeter of the coupling with a fiber hammer, then torque the coupling nut again.

 (c)
 Do the torque procedure two times, then torque the coupling nut again.

 

 (9)
 Remove the protective covers from the muscle pressure tube and the fitting on the lower HP duct (15).


 (10)
 Connect the muscle pressure tube to the lower HP duct (15). NOTE : Use a second wrench to hold the fitting on the duct when you

____ torque the coupling nut on the muscle pressure tube.

 (11)
 TORQUE the coupling nut on the muscle pressure tube to between 100 and 110 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.24 m.daN).

 B. Preparation for the leak test
 (1) There are two possible procedures to find the location of a pneumatic joint air leak.
 NOTE : Apply dry developer only on the connections of the removed
____ pneumatic components.Do not apply dry developer on all the pneumatic components.
 You can apply developer, dry (Material No. CP3010) around the
R  pneumatic joints or you can install FOIL-ALUMINUM (Local Purchase) around the pneumatic joint locations. Do the steps that follow to apply foil, aluminum to the pneumatic joint locations.
 (a)
 Wind the foil wrap around the joint one time.

 (b)
 Twist the seam of the foil wrap tight.

 (c)
 Make the foil wrap as tight as possible on the tube, but do not rip the wrap.
