AIR DATA PRESSURE INSTRUMENTS - TROUBLE SHOOTING
________________________________________________
1. General
_______
A. Malfunctions in air data pressure instruments are checked by operating the central air data computer system (34-12-00) and pitot-static system (34-11-00) in conjunction with indicators. Therefore, all air data instruments other than the two vertical velocity indicators are checked in 34-12-00, Central Air Data Computer System - Trouble Shooting.
B. While performing any trouble shooting procedures on air data instruments, heaters in pitot-static probes and total air temperature probes must remain off. Do-not-operate identifiers must be placed on all probe heater switches. (Refer to 30-31-00, Pitot-Static and Temperature Probe Anti-Icing.)
NOTE: With total air temperature probe heat on, on the ground, TAT and
____ SAT (if installed) indications will not be accurate and flags may appear. This is a normal condition.
C. To troubleshoot a suspected malfunction in a vertical velocity indicator, perform vertical velocity indicator portions of 34-12-00, Central Air Data Computer System - Adjustment/Test (System Test).
(1)
If test results are out of tolerance, replace indicator and repeat test.
(2)
If test results are not corrected, troubleshoot applicable static pressure system per 34-11-00, Pitot-Static System - Trouble Shooting

AIR DATA PRESSURE INSTRUMENTS - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
_______________________________________________
1. General
_______
A. The operational and system tests for the air data pressure instruments are performed in conjunction with the central air data computer system adjustment/test (34-12-00). The computer serves as an installed input device during test. When treated as an integral system, the overall function and accuracy from input to readout is checked at one reading, and thus, interface integrity is assured. Air data instrument tests that do not require central air data computer inputs are included, since they can also be performed with the pitot-static system (34-11-00) connected to pneumatic test equipment. The operational test is self-contained and gives a confidence test of the basic air data system using on-board equipment only. The system test is predicated on a successful completion of the operational test and cannot be performed alone.

1. Referenced Procedures
_____________________
A. 34-13-01, Adjustment/Test
2. Remove Instantaneous Vertical Velocity Indicator
________________________________________________
A. Loosen instrument mounting clamp and slide indicator out of instrument panel.
CAUTION: DRAW INDICATOR OUT OF INSTRUMENT PANEL WITH CARE TO AVOID
_______ STRESS AND/OR DAMAGE TO CABLE AND PNEUMATIC HOSES AT BACK OF CASE. PITOT AND STATIC SYSTEM PRESSURES MUST BE AT AMBIENT BEFORE PROCEEDING TO AVOID INSTRUMENT DAMAGE.
B. Disconnect electrical connector on rear of indicator case.
C. Disconnect static pressure hose from rear of indicator case by operating quick-disconnect fitting.
3. Install Instantaneous Vertical Velocity Indicator
