Pull caging control knob to erect gyro and check that attitude display aligns to within 10 degrees of airplane pitch and roll attitude.

Push in caging control knob and allow indicator to stabilize. Check that indicator slowly aligns to airplane pitch and roll attitude.
(4)
Turn caging control knob until airplane symbol and horizon line are aligned.
(5)
Open master radio switches (if installed).
(6)
Remove electrical power if no longer required (Ref 24-22-00).

FLIGHT DIRECTOR COMMAND SWITCHING - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General_______(See figure 1.)
A. The flight director system is fully integrated with the autopilot system, as described in the autopilot/flight director system (22-10-00). Autopilot/flight director system pitch and roll computers operate when power is applied to the airplane, and remain constantly synchronized until they are used. Three identical pitch and three identical roll computers are provided and are identified as channels A, B, and C. The flight director command switching connects the captain's and first officer's ADI's to the channel A, B, or C computers. On LH 011-030, 051-070, 082-099; IB 406-499; AZ 212-299; SN 351-399; AT ALL, refer to Chapter 22 for detailed description and operation of flight director command switching.
B. Flight director command switching is enabled by the captain's and first officer's FLT DIR CMPTR select switches and respective relays, located as shown in figure 1. The computer select switches are on the P1 and P3 panels. The computer select relays are on the P73 panel.
C. Flight director engage and mode select switching is provided by the autopilot/flight director mode select panel.
D. The captain's flight director switch connects 28 volts dc to a computer select relay from the essential flight instrument bus. The first officer's flight director switch connects 28 volts dc to a computer select relay from flight instrument bus No. 2. Both relays are located on the P73 panel. The CAPT FLT INST SW RELAYS - F/D and F/O FLT INST SW RELAYS - F/D circuit breakers are on the P7 panel.
E. One of three green lights is illuminated over the captain's or first officer's computer select switch, on P1 and P3 panels respectively, showing the computer being used. In the event of a relay or switch failure, the light will turn off showing this condition.
2. FLT DIR CMPTR Select Switch___________________________(See figure 1.)
A. This switch is a triple-pole, three-position rotary switch. Flight director computers A, B or C are connected to the associated ADI through the computer select relay which is stepped to the next position whenever the flight director switch is moved through positions A, B or C.
3. Computer Select Relay_____________________(See figure 1.)
A. The computer select relay is a 39-pole, three-position stepping relay. The relay is stepped to the next position whenever a 28-volt dc pulse is supplied to the relay coil through a built-in selector cam which moves with the contacts.
