 Press and hold test switch on A/T-TAT/N1 limit panel. Check that:

 (a)  
Upper half of switch illuminates.

 (b)  
The TAT and N1 limit values displayed on the TAT/N1 limit indicator should read values as in TABLE I for each mode selected. The N1 limit values displayed by the command N1 counter should be within | .5% RPM of the test values.

 (c)  
That TAT and N1 limit failure warning flags will be in view while the indicator is slewing.

 (d)  
Release test switch and observe that displayed TAT and EPRL readings return to their original values.

 Still holding test switch, press rating select II switch on A/T -TAT/N1 limit panel. Check that:

 (a)  
Upper half on rating select I switch should extinguish and rating select II switch should illuminate.

 (b)  
The N1 values displayed on TAT/N1 limit indicator shall read values as in Table I for each mode selected and the command N1 counter should be within | .5% RPM of the test values.

 Release test switch and press rating select II switch. Upper half

 B. Equipment and Materials
 (1)  
On centigrade outdoor thermometer with accuracy of | 0.5.C (Weksler or equivalent)

 (2)  
Means to heat and cool total air temperature probe

 (3)  
Means to apply air to aspirated total air temperature probe.


 C. Test TAT/N1 Limit Indicating System
 (1)  
Perform TAT/N1 limit indicating system operational test (Ref 34-15-00). Do not remove electrical power.

 (2)  
Air must be applied to left total air temperature (TAT) probe No. 1 by one of the following methods:

 (a)  
One of the left engines operating.

 (b)  
A high pressure ground cart providing air to the airplane and left isolation valve opened (flight engineer's panel).

 (c)  
The APU operating and left isolation valve opened.

 (3)  Verify application of air by observing that the duct pressure
 indicator on the flight engineer's panel registers approximately
 40 PSI.
 (4)  Verify air flow from left TAT probe. Air should exit probe at a
 rate of approximately two cubic feet per minute.
 (5)  Condition the left TAT probe such that the TAT/N1 limit indicator
 TAT readout is +45.C or less.
 NOTE: Heat may be applied to the left TAT probe by holding the____
 LEFT probe heater switch on the pilots' overhead panel in
 TAT TEST position.
 (6)  Place a thermometer adjacent to left TAT probe. Shield from direct
 sunlight, wind probe windstreams and contact with probe or airplane.
 (7)  After thermometer has stabilized, check that TAT indication agrees
 with ambient temperature of probe within | 2.0.C. Remove
 thermometer.
 (8)  Select each of the flight modes in any sequence on mode selector
