F. Shave external surface of static port until it is flush with airplane skin within +0.003/-0.000 inch. After this shaving is complete, see that surface finish on face of static port is 63 RHR maximum. Check to see that no burrs or materials are in static ports.
G. Brush alodize external surface of static port (Ref 20-30-02).
H. From inside airplane, clean out any foreign material inside static port and check all inlet holes for obstructions. From outside airplane, check all inlet holes for freedom from obstructions or deformation.
I. Remove protective cover from end of static hose and check for any foreign material inside hose, clean if necessary.
J. Connect static hose and fitting to static port.
CAUTION: TO PREVENT HOSE OR FITTING DAMAGE, DO NOT TWIST OR KINK THE
_______
STATIC HOSE DURING THIS PROCESS.
K. Apply fillet seal all around static port with sealant (Ref 20-30-05).
L. Perform alternate static port test.
5. Alternate Static Port Test
__________________________
A. General
(1)
Flushing is not normally required and must be performed only if there is reason to believe foreign material was introduced into alternate static system during disassembly/assembly.
(2)
Test setup, pressurization, pressure release and returning system to normal are performed per 34-11-00, Maintenance Practices.
B. Prepare to Test
(1)
On flight deck, set captain's and first officer's static source selector valves to NORMAL position.
(2)
Place a temporary seal over left alternate static port.
NOTE: Seal must not extend into static port or otherwise deform
____ or alter surface in area when seal is removed.
C. Test Alternate Static Port
(1)
Pressurize alternate static system (Ref 34-11-00).
(2)
Operate pneumatic test unit and static control valve to apply a vacuum equivalent to 11.10 |0.10 inches of mercury (absolute pressure) or 25,000 |200 feet of altitude.
(3)
When required vacuum has been reached and has stabilized, close cutoff valve.
CAUTION: TO PREVENT INSTRUMENT/EQUIPMENT DAMAGE, VACUUM MUST BE
_______ HELD AS A BACKUP BEHIND CUTOFF VALVE DURING CUTOFF PERIOD. FOLLOWING THIS, CUTOFF VALVE IS REOPENED. RELEASE VACUUM IS GRADUALLY.
(4)
Read and record indication on static system gage.
(5)
After 1 minute, read and record values indicated on static system gage. The vacuum must not have decreased by more than 0.20 inches of mercury or an equivalent fall of 400 feet in indicated altitude.
(6)
Return alternate static system to ambient pressure (Ref 34-11-00).
(7)
Remove all adapters and seals.
