Flight Director Select Trouble Shooting
Prepare system for trouble shooting as described in par. 2. Position both FLT DIR CMPTR switches to A. Position both FLT DIR switches on AP-FD mode select panel to ON. Check that F/D flag is out of view in captain's and first officer's ADI's. Check that computer position light illuminates. IF -

FLIGHT DIRECTOR COMMAND SWITCHING - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. Operational Test - Flight Director Command Switching
____________________________________________________
A. General
(1) This operational test determines that the captain's and first officer's FLT DIR CMPTR select switches and associated transfer relays are operable. No system test is required.
B. Referenced Procedures

C. Prepare for Test
(1) Verify that the following circuit breakers are closed: AFC WARN DC (P6 panel) A/P F/D SYS A AC (P7 panel) A/P F/D SYS A PITCH DC (P7 panel) A/P F/D SYS A ROLL DC (P7 panel) F/D SYS C AC (P7 panel)(on airplanes without P126 panel) F/D SYS C DC (P7 panel)(on airplanes without P126 panel) A/P F/D SYS C AC (on airplanes with P126 panel) A/P F/D SYS C PITCH DC (on airplanes with P126 panel) A/P F/D SYS C ROLL DC (on airplanes with P126 panel) A/P F/D SYS B AC (P7 panel) A/P F/D SYS B PITCH DC (P7 panel) A/P F/D SYS B ROLL DC (P7 panel) CAPT FLT INST SW RELAYS - F/D (P7 panel) F/O FLT INST SW RELAYS - F/D (P7 panel)
CAUTION: MAKE SURE EQUIPMENT COOLING SYSTEM IS OPERATING BEFORE
_______ TURN ON OF ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS, OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT. EQUIPMENT COOLING SYSTEM MUST BE SET FOR NORMAL COOLING AS DESCRIBED IN 21-58-00.
(2)
Place switches on mode select panel as follows: course transfer-DUAL, nav mode select - HDG, all others OFF.
(3)
Provide electrical power. Refer to 24-22-00.
(4)
Verify that INS-1, INS-2, and INS-3 are operational and are aligned through code 8; if not, align INS. Refer to 34-41-00.
D. Test Flight Director Command Switching Operation
(1) Check FLT DIR CMPTR switch and transfer relay operation.
(a)
Place both FLT DIR engage switches (mode select panel) to ON.
(b)
Place both FLT DIR CMPTR switches (P1 and P3 panel) to position
A. Check that warning flag is out-of-view in both ADI's.
(c)
Repeat step (b) with the FLT DIR CMPTR switches in position B then C.
(d)
Place FLT DIR engage switches off.
(e)
Turn off INS if no longer required. Refer to 34-41-00.

(f) Remove electrical power if no longer required. Refer to 24-22-
00.
CAUTION: IF ELECTRICAL POWER IS STILL REQUIRED TO PERFORM
_______ TESTS ON SYSTEMS OTHER THAN AUTOPILOT/FLIGHT DIRECTOR OR YAW DAMPER, OPEN THE FOLLOWING CIRCUIT BREAKERS TO PREVENT UNNECESSARY WEAR OF RATE GYROS:
