 B. Controls
 (1)  
Prior to operating the standby attitude reference system, electrical power must be provided to the aircraft. (Refer to 24-22-00, Electrical Power, Manual Control.)

 (2)  
The master radio switches (if installed) on the pilots' overhead panel (P5) must be closed.

 (3)  
The STBY ATTD IND circuit breaker on the electronic circuit breaker panel (P7) must be closed.

 STANDBY ATTITUDE REFERENCE SYSTEM - TROUBLE SHOOTING
____________________________________________________

 1.  General
_______
 A.  The following trouble shooting procedures are based on performance of the system operational test and are presented in tree-type format. The test steps (heavy-line boxes) are connected by shaded arrows to show the OK condition path. When all steps in the OK condition path check out, the system is operable.
 B.  When a test step does not check out, follow the NOT OK line to the box containing the trouble symptom. Turn to the procedure indicated and continue to follow a single line by analyzing the results of each test step until the required corrective action is determined. Perform the specified corrective action; then repeat the step at which the failure was encountered.
 2.  Prepare for Trouble Shooting

 A.  Apply electrical power. Refer to 24-22-00, Manual Control - Maintenance Practices (Apply Power).
 B.  Check that the standby attitude indicator circuit breaker on panel P7 is closed.
 C.  Place the master radio switches (if installed) in the pilots' overhead panel (P5) in ON position.

 A.  This section covers the removal and installation of the SARS components. These procedures are entirely obvious and only safety considerations are included.
 2.  Referenced Procedures

 A.  24-22-00, Manual Control - Maintenance Practices (Apply Power)
 3.  Removal of Standby Attitude Reference System Components
_______________________________________________________
 A.  Before removing component, open STBY ATT IND circuit breaker on panel P7.
 B.  On standby attitude indicator, pull pitch trim/erection knob out and install a circlip in groove in caging shaft, to lock knob in caging position.
 CAUTION: CIRCLIP MUST BE INSTALLED TO LOCK THE KNOB IN CAGE POSITION,
_______ TO AVOID DAMAGE TO GYRO WHEN REMOVING, STORING OR SHIPPING INDICATOR.
 4.  Installation of Standby Attitude Reference System Components
____________________________________________________________
 A.  Before installing component, ensure that STBY ATT IND circuit breaker on panel P7 is open.
 B.  Test standby attitude reference system components as follows:
 (1)  
Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-00).

 (2)  
Close STBY ATT IND circuit breaker. Check that indicator power failure flag retracts.

 (3)  
Remove electrical power if no longer required (Ref 24-22-00).

 A.  The standby attitude reference system (SARS) is self-contained and requires only airplane power for operation. The SARS operational test is the only procedure required to test the system.

 B.  Prepare for Test
 (1)  Provide electrical power. Refer to 24-22-00.
 C.  Test SARS
 (1)  Close STBY ATT IND circuit breaker on electronic circuit breaker panel. Check that gyro motor runs up and synchronizes at a constant speed and that the power failure flag retracts.
