 Using a calibrated voltmeter, measure E-W and N-S compensating voltages on the magnetic compensators (in main equipment center).


 NOTE: Do not select lower than 2.5 V DC range on voltmeter except
____ when using DVM/VTVM, as meter loading may cause reading errors.

Observe that measured voltages correspond with voltages recorded on the placards.


 (b)  
Observe that maintenance flag on compass coupler is out of view


 F. Test MHRS Transfer Switching
 (1)  
On ALL EXCEPT AT ALL,
 set captain's COMPASS switch to CAPT 2 - F/O 2 position.
 On AT ALL,
 set captain's COMPASS switch to CAPT 2.


 (2)  
Place SET HDG knob on first officer's compass controller to first clockwise position.

 (3)  
Observe that captain's and first officer's compass cards indicate an increase in heading at a rate of 200 to 400 degrees per minute.

 (4)  
On ALL EXCEPT AT ALL,
 set captain's COMPASS switch to CAPT 1 - F/O 1 position.
 On AT ALL,
 set captain's COMPASS switch to F/O 1 position.


 (5)  
Repeat steps (2) and (3) using SET HDG knob on captain's compass controller.

 (6)  
On ALL EXCEPT AT ALL,
 set captain's COMPASS switch to CAPT 1 - F/O 2 position.
 On AT ALL,
 set captain's COMPASS switch to NORM.

 

 G. Test RMI Power Switching (LH ALL EXCEPT 001-003)
 EFFECTIVITY

 (1)  
Open the FLT INST AUTO XFMR 2 circuit breaker on the P6 panel and verify that the captain's HSI HDG, captain's VOR RMI HDG and first officer's ADF RMI HDG flags come into view.

 (2)  
Close the FLT INSTR XFMR 2 circuit breaker and verify that the captain's HSI HDG, captain's VOR RMI HDG and first officer's ADF RMI HDG flags retract from view.

 (3)  
Open the VOR/RMI-1 circuit breaker on the P7 panel and verify the captain's VOR RMI HDG flag comes into view.

 (4)  
Close the VOR/RMI-1 circuit breaker and verify that the captain's VOR RMI HDG flag retracts from view.

 (5)  
Open the ADF/RMI-2 circuit breaker on the P7 panel and verify that the first officer's ADF RMI HDG flag comes into view.

 (6)  
Close the ADF/RMI-2 circuit breaker and verify the first officer's ADF RMI HDG flag retracts from view.

 (7)  
Set the captain's COMPASS switch to the CAPT 1 - F/O 1.

 (8)  
Open the ALT VOR/RMI-2 circuit breaker on the P7 panel and verify that the first officers VOR RMI HDG flag comes into view.

 (9)  
Close the ALT VOR/RMI-2 circuit breaker and verify that the first officer's VOR RMI HDG flag retracts from view.

 (10)
 Open the ALT ADF/RMI-1 circuit breaker on the P7 panel and verify that the captain's ADF RMI HDG flag comes into view.

 (11)
 Close the ALT ADF/RMI-1 circuit breaker and verify that the captain's ADF RMI HDG flag retracts from view.

 (12)
 Set the captains COMPASS switch to CAPT  - F/O 2.


 H. Restore Airplane to Normal
 (1)  
On ALL EXCEPT AT ALL,
 set ATT/COMP STAB switch to CAPT 1 - F/O 2.
 On AT ALL,
 set ATTITUDE switch to NORM.


 (2)  
Turn off INS (Ref 34-41-00).

 (3)  
Remove equipment cooling (Ref 21-58-00).


 (4) Remove electrical power (Ref 24-22-00). XA 2. __________________________________________

 A.  The magnetic field sensors are installed on prealigned mounting brackets in the wingtips. Access is through an access port above the sensor.
