 B.  Replacement of a magnetic field sensor will not normally degrade MHRS performance unless field sensor or mounting bracket alignment is changed.
 2.  Referenced Procedures_____________________
 A.  34-21-01, Adjustment/Test
 3.  Remove Field Sensor___________________
CAUTION: USE NONMAGNETIC TOOLS AND MOUNTING HARDWARE WHEN WORKING ON THE
_______ FIELD SENSOR OR COMPASS SYSTEM CALIBRATION MAY BE DISTURBED.
DO NOT LOOSEN FIELD SENSOR INDEXING SCREWS OR REINDEXING (A BENCH ADJUSTMENT) WILL BE REQUIRED.
DO NOT LOOSEN MOUNTING BRACKET INDEXING SCREWS OR SYSTEM REFERENCE TO AIRPLANE CENTERLINE WILL BE LOST.
DO NOT MEASURE FIELD SENSOR CONTINUITY WITH AN OHMMETER. CURRENT FLOW THROUGH SENSING COILS MIGHT DAMAGE UNIT.
 A.  Open MHRS 1 and MHRS 2 circuit breakers on electronic circuit breaker panel (P7).
 B.  Gain access to field sensor, disconnect electrical connector, and remove nonmagnetic mounting screws.
 4.  Install Field Sensor____________________
 A.  Open MHRS 1 and MHRS 2 circuit breakers on electronic circuit breaker panel (P7).
 B.  Install field sensor with mounting screws, connect electrical connector, and replace access cover.
 C.  Close MHRS 1 and MHRS 2 circuit breakers (panel P7).
 D.  Test field sensor (Ref 34-21-01).

 MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
_______________________________________

 1. Magnetic Field Sensor Test
__________________________
 A. Referenced Procedures
 (1)
21-58-00, Adjustment/Test (Operational Test)

 (2)
24-22-00, Maintenance Practices (Apply Power)

 (3)
34-21-00, Adjustment/Test (Operational Test)

 (4)
34-41-00, Adjustment/Test (Operational Test)

 B. Prepare for Test
 (1)
Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-00).

 (2)
Supply equipment cooling to main equipment center shelves (Ref 21-58-00).

CAUTION: IF OPERATED WITHOUT PROPER COOLING, DAMAGE TO ELECTRONIC
_______
 EQUIPMENT COULD RESULT.

 (3)
Turn on inertial navigation systems No. 1 and No. 2. Ensure that they are operating in NAV mode with present position inserted. Main power, platform heading and HSI circuit breakers must be closed (Ref 34-41-00).

 (4)
Set both VOR/ILS-INS switches to VOR/ILS.

 (5)
On ALL EXCEPT AT ALL,
set captain's COMPASS switch to CAPT 1-F/O2.
 On AT ALL,
set captain's COMPASS switch to NORM.

 (6)
On ALL EXCEPT AT ALL, set captain's ATT/COMP STAB switch to CAPT 1-F/O 2. On AT ALL, set captain's ATTITUDE switch to NORM.

 C. Test Magnetic Field Sensor
 (1)
Close circuit breakers for magnetic heading reference systems No. 1 and No. 2 (Ref 34-21-00).

 (2)
Set compass controller switches for MHRS No. 1 and No. 2 to SLAVED.

 (3)
Allow systems to stabilize for approximately 5 minutes.

 (4)
Observe that heading flags are out of view and all compass cards indicate present airplane magnetic heading in captain's and first officer's horizontal situation and radio magnetic indicators.

 (5)
On both compass controllers, observe that synchronization annunciator is centered.

 (6)
Turn off inertial navigation systems if no longer required (Ref 34-41-00).

 (7)
Remove equipment cooling if no longer required (Ref 21-58-00).

 (8)
Remove electrical power if no longer required (Ref 24-22-00).
