company, Andrei was heavily involved in the
construction of a yogurt plant for an
international customer. He likes all sorts of
research and analytical work as well as
designing new products and equipment. His
hobby is boating and outboards. Andrei’s career
interests focus on marketing, operations and
project management.
Natthagarn (Natt) Sriworavieng
obtained a B.Eng. (Industrial) at Thammasat
University in Thailand. Initially she worked on a
time study project to solve delay problems at
MPO Asia, a CD-ROM manufacturer. As part of
the Production Engineering Department at
Fujitsu, a hard disk drive manufacturer, Natt was
involved in productivity improvement, layout
design, facility control, production planning,

process time control and general coordination of
different facets of manufacturing. Her pastimes
include swimming and travelling and her career
interests center on project management,
planning and development.
Luis Jose Urrea first obtained a Bachelor
of Mechanical Engineering from the University
of Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, and then a
diploma as Specialist in Automation of
Industrial Processes from the same university.
He has worked in the aerospace, construction
and manufacturing engineering sectors as
Project Engineer, Quality Control Engineer and
Procurement Engineer. Luis loves the outdoors;
he has even climbed some major peaks in the
Andes. He has a special interest in
environmental issues and enjoys the study of
sociology and anthropology. Luis would enjoy a
career in project or operations management in an
automated manufacturing environment,
preferably in the high-tech industry.
Wei Xiao graduated from Tsinghua
University in China with a B.Eng. (Fluid
Engineering) and later she completed a special
course in Total Quality Management, in which
her team took first place honors. She has worked
as a Hydraulic Engineer and Export Project
Manager at Marconi Commerce Systems
(Gilbarco China) and as Operations Manager at
State Research Information Technology Ltd.
Wei is an avid tennis player, even competing in
the finals of national and Sino-Japanese
tournaments. In 1995 she won the Miss Elle
(China) pageant. She loves to travel and learn
about different cultures. Her objective is to forge
a fulfilling career in engineering management.
NEW PROFESSORS AT MMM
The MMM program is pleased to welcome two new professors this year.
Dr. Tamer Boyaci hails from Turkey where he
received a B.Sc. from the Middle East Technical
University. He then obtained two Master degrees
and a Ph.D. from Columbia University in New
York, where he also started his teaching career.
In 1998, he joined McGill’s Faculty of
Management as part of the Management Science
area. Dr. Boyaci’s primary research interests
include management and coordination of supply
chains, planning models for production and
distribution systems, multi-echelon inventory
management, and joint operations and marketing
decision making. His current research focuses on
competitive supply chain management. He has
presented his work at a number of universities
and international conferences. Dr. Boyaci is a
member of the Groupe d’Études et de
Recherches en Analyse des Décisions (GÉRAD)
and the Institute for Operations Research and the
Management Sciences (INFORMS). In the
MMM program, Dr. Boyaci teaches the course
on Analysis of Manufacturing Systems.
Professor Angelo Segall holds a B.Sc.
Industrial Engineering from the Technion
Institute of Technology, a Diploma in
Electronics Technology, and one in Production
Management, as well as an MBA from the
University of King College/Canadian School of
Management. Presently he is the Engineering
Support Manager at BAE Systems, formerly
Canadian Marconi. He specializes in
engineering process improvement and has over
25 years of experience in manufacturing
management, program/product management,
production management and control, marketing,
labour relations and employee training. His
extensive achievements include developing and
implementing Concurrent Engineering at BAE
