An aircraft of any scale that is a

or an AD, except where the AD
specifies that it may be done by a
crew member.

the one-engine-inoperative take-off distance
or 115% of the all-engines-operating
take-off distance, whichever is greater.

required visual reference
That portion of the approach area of
the runway, or those visual aids that,
when viewed by the pilot of an

which flight is restricted under

A projectile containing its own

Runway Visual Range. The range over
which a pilot on the centre line of a
runway can expect to see the surface
markings or lights delineating it, or
identifying the centre line.

safety belt
A personal restraint system with
either a lap strap or a lap strap

saturated vapour
That in contact with its liquid at the
same temperature. Vapours used in
refrigeration systems are saturated.
Saturation Temperature
The boiling or vapourisation point
of a liquid. The boiling point can
change according to the pressure, for
example, water boils at a lower
temperature when at altitude - in
fact, it doesn't even have to be hot in
some circumstances. Thus, if you
want to stop a liquid boiling, subject
it to high pressure.
