ROSE mode
(Ref. Fig. 018)
There are three ROSE modes for which data must be provided.
-ROSE-VOR: this sub-mode gives the conventional HSI presentation, with the VOR deviation with respect to the selected course. . Edit area : ROSE-VOR does not have defined areas.
-ROSE-ILS: ditto, but with the LOC deviation information, with respect to the selected ILS course. A further sub-mode might be offered for the MLS function. . Edit area : ROSE-ILS does not have defined areas.
-ROSE-NAV: the flight plan is presented, with the aircraft position in it and the navaids positions. . Edit area : The edit area in ROSE-NAV mode is rectangular and varies in size according to the scale selection on the FCU EFIS control panel. The ND is oriented heading up (or track up in option) with the aircraft position in the center of the DU. The heading or track is referenced to magnetic or true north according to the selection of the NORTH REF pushbutton switch.
(Ref. Fig. 017)
ARC mode (Ref. Fig. 019)
-In ARC mode, only the 90. heading sector ahead of the aircraft is shown. The flight plan is presented, with aircraft position in it and the navaids positions. . Edit area: The edit area in ARC mode is rectangular and varies in size according to the scale selection on the FCU EFIS control panel. The ND is oriented heading up (or track up in option) with the aircraft position at the bottom of the CRT at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical axes. The vertical axis is the current heading or track of the aircraft. The heading or track is referenced to magnetic or true north according to the selection of the NORTH REF pushbutton switch.

3 PLAN mode
_
(Ref. Fig. 020)
-In PLAN mode, a navigation image is presented, but oriented to the geographic North. The flight plan is inscribed in it, and any waypoint of the flight plan can be positioned at the center of the heading dial, through the MCDU controls. The present position of the aircraft in the flight plan is given (by means of a true heading oriented aircraft symbol).
. Edit area: The edit area in PLAN mode is square and varies in size according to the scale selection on the FCU EFIS control panel. The area of the square is based on a two-dimensional axis with the Map Reference Point (MRP) as the intersection of the two axes in the center of the square. The vertical axis is referenced to the true north and the horizontal axis is perpendicular to it.
NOTE : The WXR image is available in the ARC, ROSE-NAV,
____ ROSE-ILS and ROSE-VOR modes. Activation of the WXR is made through the WXR control unit.
(2) Description of ECAM symbology (Ref. Fig. 008) The 2 ECAM symbologies work together, specially concerning the warning area of the EWD and the SD pages. In the absence of warning, the 2 symbologies are independent. Nevertheless, in case of warning/caution, the SD pages directly correspond to the messages provided by the warning area of the EWD. If a warning text related to an A/C system is displayed, the corresponding SD page is also displayed. The ECAM displays provide the crew with:
-an aircraft system failure analysis with warning/caution
identification,
-the corrective actions and procedures to be taken,
-an operational assistance intended to minimize the need of paper checklist or normal read out.
(a) Engine/Warning Display (EWD)
(Ref. Fig. 021)
(For further details, Ref. to 31-66-00).
The EWD presents at once 2 separated areas:
-the upper one (ENGINE area) is used to mainly present engine information and flaps/slats position,
