 (1)
 On the Passenger/Crew Doors and Emergency Exit Doors.

 (a) Remove all the snow and slush from the subsequent areas before you close a passenger/crew door or an emergency exit door:
 -
the door pressure seal

 -
the seal contact area on the fuselage.

 

 (2)
 FWD and AFT Cargo-Compartment Doors.


 CAUTION : DO NOT USE SOLVENTS THAT CONTAIN CHLORINE TO CLEAN THE
_______ EQUIPMENT (PUMP, HOSES, TANK AND FUNNEL) USED TO FILL THE IDG WITH OIL. CHLORINE CONTAMINATION OF THE OIL CAN CAUSE FAST DETERIORATION OF THE OIL AND WILL DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE IDG.
 (a) Remove as much snow and/or water as possible from the cargo pallets before you install them in the aircraft.
 NOTE : Large quantities of melting snow and water can cause the
____ cargo-compartment doors to freeze in their closed positions.

R  (b) Do not open the FWD and AFT cargo-compartment doors (Ref. TASK 
R  52-30-00-860-001) until immediately before you install the cargo 
R  pallets/containers. 
R  (c) Close the FWD and AFT cargo-compartment doors (Ref. TASK 52-30-
R  00-860-002) immediately after the installation of the cargo 
R  pallets/containers is complete. 
R  (d) If the aircraft is parked in a hangar, open the FWD and AFT 
R  cargo-compartment doors (Ref. TASK 52-30-00-860-001) to their 
R  vertical positions. 
R  NOTE : This procedure will help to remove the moisture from the____ 
R  inner surfaces of the doors. 
R  (e) Use a HOT AIR BLOWER OPERATING 40 DEG C (100 DEG F) to remove the 
R  ice from doors or panels that are frozen in their closed 
R  positions. Do not use hard or sharp tools to remove the ice. 
R  (3) Service Panels/Doors. 
R  (a) Apply the temporary protective compound, STORAGE PRESERVATION 
R  (Material No. 15-005A) as a spray, to the hinges and latch 
R  mechanisms of the fuselage service panels and doors. 
R  Subtask 12-31-52-660-052-B 
R  D. Winter Preparation (After Flight) 
R  (1) On the Passenger/Crew Doors and Emergency Exit Doors. 
R  (a) For aircraft not parked in a hangar: 
R  1_  Remove the snow and/or slush from the subsequent areas before
R  you close the passenger/crew doors and/or the emergency exit 
R  doors: 
R  - the door pressure seals 
R  - the door contact areas on the fuselage. 
R  2_  Use a lint-free cotton cloth, MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-
R  003) and the CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) to clean 
R  the pressure seals of the passenger/crew doors and the 
R  emergency exit doors. 
R  3_  Apply the silicone grease, SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-
R  001) to the pressure seals of the passenger/crew doors and the 
R  emergency exit doors.

 

R  4_  Make sure that the pressure seal drains and the drain holes of
R  the passenger/crew doors and the emergency exit doors are 
R  clear and not blocked. 
R  (b) For aircraft parked in a hangar: 
R  1_  Open the passenger/crew doors and the emergency exit doors.
R  NOTE : This procedure will help to remove the moisture from____ 
R  the inner surfaces of the doors. 
R  (2) FWD and AFT Cargo-Compartment Doors (After Flight). 
R  (a) Remove the snow and/or slush from the subsequent areas before you 
R  close the FWD and AFT cargo-compartment doors (Ref. TASK 52-30-
R  00-860-002): 
R  - the door pressure seals 
R  - the door contact areas on the fuselage. 
R  (b) If the aircraft flies from an airport where the ambient 
R  temperature is more than 0 deg.C (32.00 deg.F) to an airport 
R  where the ambient temperature is less than 0 deg.C (32.00 deg.F), 
R  you must: 
R  (c) Apply the temporary protective compound, STORAGE PRESERVATION 
R  (Material No. 15-005A) as a spray, to the subsequent areas of the 
R  FWD and AFT cargo-compartment doors: 
R  - the operating mechanisms 
R  - the inner surfaces of the lower areas of the cargo doors. 
R  NOTE : This procedure will keep the effects of freezing____
