 (d) If the aircraft is parked in a hangar, open the FWD and AFT cargo-compartment doors (Ref. TASK 52-30-00-860-001) to their vertical positions.
 NOTE : This procedure will help to remove the moisture from the
____ inner surfaces of the doors.
 (e) Use a HOT AIR BLOWER OPERATING 40 DEG C (100 DEG F) to remove the ice from doors or panels that are frozen in their closed positions. Do not use hard or sharp tools to remove the ice.
 (3) Service Panels/Doors.
 (a) Apply the temporary protective compound, STORAGE PRESERVATION (Material No. 15-005A) as a spray, to the hinges and latch mechanisms of the fuselage service panels and doors.

 D. Winter Preparation (After Flight)
 (1) On the Passenger/Crew Doors and Emergency Exit Hatches.
 (a) For aircraft not parked in a hangar:
 1_ Remove the snow and/or slush from the subsequent areas before
 you close the passenger/crew doors and/or the emergency exit
 hatches:
 - the door/hatch pressure seals
 - the door/hatch contact areas on the fuselage.
 2_ Use a lint-free cotton cloth, MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-
003) and the CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) to clean
 the pressure seals of the passenger/crew doors and the
 emergency exit hatches.
 3_ Apply the silicone grease, SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-
001) to the pressure seals of the passenger/crew doors and the
 emergency exit hatches.
 4_ Make sure that the pressure seal drains and the drain holes of
 the passenger/crew doors and the emergency exit hatches are
 clear and not blocked.

 (b) For aircraft parked in a hangar:

 1_ Open the passenger/crew doors and the emergency exit hatches.
 NOTE : This procedure will help to remove the moisture from____
 the inner surfaces of the doors.

 (2) FWD and AFT Cargo-Compartment Doors (After Flight).
 (a)
 Remove the snow and/or slush from the subsequent areas before you close the FWD and AFT cargo-compartment doors (Ref. TASK 52-30-00-860-002) :

 -
the door pressure seals

 -
the door contact areas on the fuselage.

 

 (b)
 If the aircraft flies from an airport where the ambient temperature is more than 0 deg.C (32.00 deg.F) to an airport where the ambient temperature is less than 0 deg.C (32.00 deg.F), you must:


 1 Apply the temporary protective compound, STORAGE PRESERVATION
_ (Material No. 15-005A) as a spray, to the subsequent areas of the FWD and AFT cargo-compartment doors:
 -
the operating mechanisms

 -
the inner surfaces of the lower areas of the cargo doors.


 NOTE : This procedure will keep the effects of freezing
____ condensation to a minimum at cold airports.
 (3) Maintenance
 NOTE : The frequency of the subsequent procedure may be increased as
____ required by the operating environment.
 (a)
 Make sure that the pressure seal drains of the FWD and AFT cargo-compartment doors are clear and not blocked.

 (b)
 Use a lint-free cotton cloth, MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) and the CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) to clean these components of the applicable cargo-compartment doors:

 -
the pressure seals and their contact areas on the fuselage

 -
the vent panel seals

 -
the external operating handles

 -
the door hinges and the guide fittings.

 (c)
 Apply the silicone grease, SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-001) to the door frame. Apply the silicone grease, COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-011) to the pressure seals.

 (d)
 Apply the silicone grease, SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-001) to the vent panel frame. Apply the silicone grease, COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-011) or the pure mineral vaseline, COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-012) to the vent panel seals.

 (e)
 Apply the temporary protective compound, STORAGE PRESERVATION (Material No. 15-005A) to the external control handles and shafts.

 (f)
 Lubricate the door hinges and the guide fittings. Apply the temporary protective compound, STORAGE PRESERVATION (Material No. 15-005A) to the latch assemblies and the latch spools.
