 operating methods and requirements.

NOTE : The data given in the tables in this procedure are guidelines only.
____ The user can use these guidelines and his experience and knowledge of the local weather conditions to help him make the decision. It is the responsibility of the user to make the decision about the applicable methods of protection. The time of protection will be shorter in very bad weather conditions. High wind speeds and jet blast can cause damage to the
R protective film. If these conditions occur, the time of protection R will be much shorter.

The time of protection can also be much shorter if the wing
temperature is lower than the OAT.
Because conditions are not always the same, a pre-take-off inspection
is necessary when you use the times given in the tables.

The procedures prevent the formation of ice in some zones (wings, vertical R and horizontal stabilizers, rudder) and make the removal of snow from the R aircraft easier.

 A. Recommendations
Protection Equipment for Parking or Storage ProcedureAircraft Grounding for the Maintenance OperationsInstallation of the Safety Devices on the Landing GearsFig. 201Fig. 202
R  (1) An aircraft that is prepared for flight must not have ice, snow,
R  slush or frost on its critical flight surfaces (wings, vertical and
R  horizontal stabilizers, rudder).
R  (2) A contamination check of the aircraft must include all parts of the
R  aircraft. You must do this visual inspection from a position which
R  gives a clear view of all surfaces. Because collected clear ice is
R  not always easily seen, we recommend that you inspect critical
R  surfaces (wings, vertical and horizontal stabilizers, rudder) with
R  your hands.
R  (3) You do the aircraft de-/anti-icing if weather conditions make it
R  necessary.

R  (4) When you do a check on the ground, electrical or mechanical
R  ice-detectors must not replace manual checks.
R  (5) If the aircraft comes to the gate with the flaps/slats in a position
R  other than fully retracted:
R  - you must inspect these flaps/slats,
R  - you must de-ice before retraction, if necessary.
R

 (6) Application limits:
R  do not apply a new layer of anti-icing fluid directly on a layer
R  applied before.
R  if you must apply new anti-icing protection before the subsequent
R  flight, you must:
 - first, do the de-icing of the aircraft with a hot fluid solution,
 - then, apply the anti-icing protection on the clean aircraft.

 B. Different Types of Anti-Icing Fluids.
 (Ref. Fig. 201/TASK 12-31-11-991-002, 202/TASK 12-31-11-991-003)

R  CAUTION : DO NOT MAKE THE DE-ICING FLUID IN TANKS HOT TOO MANY TIMES OR_______
R  FOR LONG PERIODS. IF YOU DO, THE QUANTITY OF WATER IN THE FLUID
R  WILL DECREASE AND THERE WILL BE A POSSIBLE DEGRADATION OF THE
R  FLUID PERFORMANCE.
R  You usually apply anti-icing fluids cold directly onto clean aircraft
