Open the left thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

Procedure

(1)
Remove the No. 22, 23 or 24 fuel injector and support.
(a)
ENGINES PRE-PW-SB 72-567; If you will remove the No. 22 fuel injector, remove the left diffuser-seal air vent-tube (157) (Fig. 405). 1) Disconnect the tube nut (155) from the fitting on the
diffuser case.
2) Remove the bolt (160) and nut (169) which attach the tube clamp (170) for the signal tube of the air shutoff valve to the bracket (168).
3) Remove the bolt (162) and nut (171) which attach the tube
clamp (163) for the PT4.95 tube to the bracket (168).
4) Remove the bolts (164) which attach the flange of the air
vent tube (157) and the bracket (168) to the HPC rear case.
5) Remove the bolt (159) and nut (158) which attach the tube clamp (156) for the air vent tube (157) to the bracket on the No. 21 fuel injector.
6) Remove the air vent tube (157) from the engine. 7) Remove the deflector (166) from the HPC case. a) Discard the gaskets (165, 167). 8) Install caps on the fitting on the diffuser case and the open port on the HPC rear case.

(b) ENGINES POST-PW-SB 72-567; If you will remove the No. 22 fuel injector, remove the left diffuser-seal air vent-tube (203) (Fig. 405). 1) Remove the bolt (205) and nut (209) that attach the clamp
(207) of the vent tube for the No. 3 bearing (208).
2) Remove the four bolts (204) that attach the bracket (206) to the flange of the left diffuser-seal air vent-tube (203). a) Remove the bracket (206).
3) Remove the bolt (211) and nut (212) that attach the clamp
(210) of the left diffuser-seal air vent-tube (203). 4) Remove the bolt (218) and nut (216) that attach the clamp
(217) of the PT4.95 pressure tube (219). 5) Remove the bolt (213) and nut (225) that attach the clamp
(214) of the air shutoff valve signal tube (226).
6) Remove the four bolts (220) which attach the flange of the left diffuser-seal air vent-tube (203) and the bracket
(224) to the HPC rear case.
7) Remove the six bolts (204) which attach the flange of the left diffuser-seal air vent-tube (203) to the diffuser case.
8) Carefully remove the left diffuser-seal air vent-tube (203) from the engine.
