E. Procedure

(1)
Drain the fuel from the fuel filter element:
(a)
Put a container below the drain plug (5).
WARNING: DO NOT LET THE FUEL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG PERIOD OF
_______ TIME. THE FUEL IS POISONOUS AND CAN BE ABSORBED THROUGH YOUR SKIN.
(b)
Remove the drain plug (5).
(c)
Let the fuel fully drain into the container.
(d)
Discard the packing (6).

Remove the fuel filter element:
(a)
Remove the cover (9) with the steps that follow: 1) Remove the nuts (7) and washers (8) from the Dee-bolts and the stud.
2) Remove the cover (9) and fuel filter element (1) from the fuel pump.
(b)
Remove and discard the packing (2) for the cover (9).
(c)
Examine the housing of the fuel pump filter and the cover (9) to make sure the remaining gaskets from the fuel filter element (1) are removed.
(d)
Install a cap on the opening in the fuel pump.
