FUEL INJECTOR AND SUPPORT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure removes and installs the fuel injectors and supports.
 B.  There are 24 fuel injectors and supports which are installed circumferentially around the diffuser and combustor case. The eight fuel manifolds, three injectors on each fuel manifold, are connected to the fuel injectors.
 C.  Different procedures are given for each set of three fuel injectors with the same fuel manifold. Each fuel injector has a number on Fig. 401, Sheet 2 to make it easier to identify.
 D.  You can get access to the fuel injectors and supports through the right or left thrust reverser. More access data is given in the steps that follow:
 (1)  
You must remove the No. 2 turbine vane cooling air duct to get access to the No. 7 fuel injector.

 (2)  
You must remove the heat shield for the starter and related accessory to get access to the No. 10, 11, and 12 fuel injectors.

 (3)  
You must remove the right turbine blade cooling air duct to get access to the No. 12 fuel injector.

 (4)  
You must remove the integrated drive generator (IDG) and related accessory to get access to the No. 13, 14, and 15 fuel injectors.

 (5)  
You must remove the No. 3 bearing oil scavenge manifold to get access to the No. 13 fuel injector.

 (6)  
You must remove the oil tank to get access to the No. 16 and 17 fuel injector.

 (7)  
You must remove the No. 4 turbine vane cooling air duct to get access to the No. 20 fuel injector.

 (8)  
You must remove the air vent tube for the diffuser seal to get access to the No. 22 fuel injector.

 2.  Remove the No. 1, 2, or 3 Fuel Injector and Support (Fig. 401)

Container - 1 quart (1 liter) capacity, used to collect the fuel
