Remove the differential pressure switch S1585 (52) for the fuel filter: 1) Remove the bolts (51) and washers (50) which connect the
differential pressure switch (52) to the fuel pump (11). 2) Remove the differential pressure switch (52). 3) Discard the packings (49).

Remove the thermocouple probe:
1) Remove the thermocouple probe (45) for the EEC fuel
temperature. 2) Remove the adapter (45A) from the fuel pump (11). a) Discard the packing (46).

ENGINES POST-PW-SB 73-161;
Remove the thermocouple probe (71) and bracket assembly with
the steps that follow:
1) Remove the bolts (78) that attach the thermocouple probe
(71). 2) Carefully remove the thermocouple probe (71) from the fuel pump (11). 3) Remove the countersunk screws (72) that attach the bracket
(73) to the bracket (75). 4) Remove the bracket (73). 5) Remove the bolt (77) that attaches the bracket (75) to the
plug (62). 6) Remove the bracket (75). 7) Remove the bushing (76) from the fuel pump (11).
a) Discard the packing (74).
(d)
Remove the plug (62) from the port on the fuel pump (11).
(e)
Remove the elbow (29) and the union (30) from the drain port of the fuel pump (11).
(f)
Discard the packings (31 and 61).
(g)
If you removed the fuel pump as one unit (6 and 11), remove the FMU M3108 from the fuel pump with the steps that follow: 1) Remove the nuts (47) and washers (48) which attach the FMU
(6) to the fuel pump (11). 2) Remove the FMU (6) from the fuel pump (11). 3) Remove the packings (58 and 59) from the transfer tubes for
the fuel pump (11).
a) Discard the packings (58 and 59).

If you removed the fuel pump unit (11 and 6) and you will also replace the FMU (6), remove these parts from the FMU:
(a)
Remove the adapter (39) from the FMU (6).
1) Discard the packing (38).
(b)
Remove two bolts (55) which attach the adapter (54) to the FMU (6): 1) Remove the adapter (54) and the packing (53). 2) Discard the packing (53).

If you will not install the same FMU (6) in 24 hours, do the preservation procedure:
(a)
Drain all remaining fuel from the FMU (6).
(b)
Install caps on all ports but not on the transfer tube port for the fuel pump (11).
(c)
Put the FMU (6) on a bench in a level position (as installed).
