Procedure

(1)
Install the fuel distribution-valve strainer:
(a)
Lubricate the packings (1, 2, 8, and 9) with petrolatum.
(b)
Install the strainer (24) in the fuel distribution valve: 1) Install the packing (1) in the groove of the strainer (24). 2) Install the strainer (24) in the fuel distribution valve.
(c)
Install the transfer tube (6) and the strainer cover (3): 1) Install the packings (8 and 9) in the grooves on the
transfer tube (6). 2) Install the transfer tube (6) into the strainer cover (3).

3) Install the strainer cover (3) and the transfer tube (6) on the fuel distribution valve: a) Install the packing (2) in the groove of the strainer
cover (3). b) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (5) with engine oil. c) Install the strainer cover (3) with the washers (4) and
bolts (5).
NOTE: You must install the retaining bolts (14 and 15)
____ after you set the adapter (21) and the bracket (16) on the strainer. The position for the retaining bolts is at the four sides of the strainer cover.
d) Tighten the bolts (5) to 30-33 pound-inches (3.4-3.7 newton-meters).
(d) Install the adapter (21) on the transfer tube (6): 1) Put the gasket (7) on the transfer tube (6).
NOTE: Align the hole in the gasket with the recess in the
____
flange of the transfer tube.
2) Move the transfer tube (6) forward against the fuel flow transmitter.
NOTE: Make sure the alignment pin in the flange of the
____ fuel flow transmitter engages the recess in the transfer tube flange.
3) Put the adapter (21) on the transfer tube (6).
NOTE: Make sure the slot in the adapter forward flange
____ engages the pin in the aft face of the transfer tube flange.
4) Install the forward end of the adapter (21) and the transfer tube (6): a) Lubricate the bolts (23) with engine oil. b) Attach the adapter (21) and the transfer tube (6) to
the fuel flow transmitter with the bolts (23) and washers (22). c) Tighten the bolts (23) to 85-95 pound-inches (9.6-10.7 newton-meters).

d) Safety the bolts (23) with lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule. 5) Install the bracket (16) and the adapter aft end (21): a) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (14 and 15) with engine oil. b) Put the bracket (16) on the aft end of the adapter (21). c) Attach the bracket (16) and the adapter aft end (21) to the strainer cover (3) with the bolts (14 and 15). d) Tighten the bolts (14 and 15) to 85-95 pound-inches (9.6-10.7 newton-meters).
(e)
Lubricate the threads of the bolts (10) with engine oil.
(f)
Attach the clamps (11, 13, 17, 19, 20) to the bracket (16) with the bolts (10) and nuts (12).
