(2) If, during the procedure in Para. 4.A. you have been told to do the test given in Para. 3.A. after a pump canister check valve replacement, do the procedure that follows:
- Operational Check of the Wing Tank Pump-Canister Check-Valves (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-00-710-012).
NOTE : This test is necessary to make sure that the fuel pump
____ canister check valve stays closed in the check/reverse flow direction. The fuel pump canister check valve stops the possible migration of fuel between fuel tanks and is one feature that lets you remove a fuel pump with out defuelling the applicable fuel tank.

A. Procedure
(1) Remove the applicable fuel pump from the:
- wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-51-000-001)
- center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-51-000-002).
(2) If, during the removal of the fuel pump:
(a) Approximately 0.5 l (0.2 USgal) of fuel flows from the fuel pump drain, do step (3).
(b) More than approximately 0.5 l (0.2 USgal) of fuel, or fuel continues to flow from the fuel pump drain:
1 Re-install the drain plug/bolt.
_
2 Do step (4).
_
(3) Remove the check valve from the fuel pump canister (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-52-000-004).
(a) Do a check of the check valve, to see if it can open, as follows:
1 Push the valve in (away from the valve seat). Make sure that
_ the valve has a full and free movement.
2 If the fuel-pump canister check-valve does not have a full and
_ free movement, replace it with a serviceable item.
(b) Install the check valve in the fuel pump canister (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-52-400-004).

(c) Install the fuel pump in the:
- wing tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-51-400-001)
- center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-51-400-002).
(d) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.
(4) If the fault continues:
(a) Do the procedure for the Leak Test of the Main-Pump-System Pipe-Lines (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-00-790-001). Use the wing tank fuel pumps on the opposite wing to generate a fuel pressure to test the applicable engine feed pipe lines.
(b) If no leak is found, no more trouble shooting steps are
necessary.
(c) If a leak is found in the center tank, do step (d). If a leak is found in the wing tank:
1 Get access to the applicable wing tank collector cell (Ref.
_
AMM TASK 28-21-52-000-001).
2 Examine the items that follow (to see/find out what can cause
_ the leak) for damage, incorrect assembly or installation:
a The applicable fuel pump canister.
_ Replace, if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-52-000-001) / (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-52-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-52-400-001) / (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-52-400-002).
b The related sequence valve.
_ Replace, if necessary, (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-45-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-45-400-003).
c The adjacent main-pump-system pipe-lines.
_ Replace, if necessary all the unserviceable pipe sections and connections (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-400-001).
d The related suction valve (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-00-280-001).
_ Replace, if necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-42-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-42-400-001).
3 Get access to the related wing tank inner cell (Ref. AMM TASK
_
28-21-52-000-001).
4 Examine the engine fuel supply pipe-line, between the Rib 2
_ and the exit point to the engine pylon at the forward spar, for damage, incorrect assembly or installation.
