d Do the test given in Para. 3.B.
_
(b) If a fuel probe value(s) (any) is not what you would expect, replace the related LRU (Ref. TSM PB 101) for the related Task number(s).
NOTE : The normal range of fuel probe capacitance values is given
____
in (Ref. TSM PB 301).
NOTE : A fuel probe can fail and still remain within its range
____ and/or not be reported on the FQIS STATUS page.
1 Do the test given in Para. 3.B.
_
(c) If the capacitive values of related fuel probe LRUs attached to a FQIS fuel tank harness are shown blank, fluctuate or are outside the range of a similar group:
1 Do a check of the related fused connector/adaptor and replace,
_ if necessary. (Post Mod 28904/SB28-1087)
2 Do a check of the related aircraft wiring (fuel probes common
_ excitation drive and drive return including the common drive screen) between the FQIC rack connector and the parallel off (junction) point as given in a procedure for a fuel probe in the given group.
a Repair all the unserviceable wiring and connectors (Ref.
_
ESPM 20-00-00).
3 Trouble shoot the related harness as given in a procedure for
_ a fuel probe in the given group.
a If necessary, replace the applicable harness.
_ 4 Trouble shoot the fuel probes on the related harness.
_ Start with the multi sensor (CADENSICON, CAPACITANCE INDEX COMPENSATOR), if applicable, fuel probes first.
5 Do the test given in Para. 3.B.
_
(11) If the fault continues trouble-shoot:
- the fuel quantity probes/CICs 24QT1(2), (Ref. TASK 28-42-00-810-807)
- the fuel quantity probe/CIC 39QT, (Ref. TASK 28-42-00-810-822). NOTE : The step (11) is necessary because of a FQIC software
____ deviation. The probes with a Capacitance Index Compensator (CIC) are monitored as two probes (rather than one) by the software, as they supply two separate signals to the FQIC. As a result the failure of both of them is considered an internal drive

201-299, 401-499, Aug 01/05 CES oscillator failure; this causes the FQIC to be reported as the failed LRU and the cell/tank set to degraded. By examination of the Input Parameters page 2 (the FQIS PROBE CAPACITANCES) during an initial FQIC power-on (or reset), the failed LRU can be identified.
**ON A/C 301-399,
A. Procedure
(1) Push the line key to the right of the FQIC 3QT message to get the troubleshooting data (Ref. TSM PB 301).
(a) Print out a copy of the FQIC 3QT trouble shooting data and mark as original FQIC. Keep for future reference (possible use).
(2) Do an Interrogation of the FQIS Input Parameters Pages (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-00-740-003).
(a) Print out a copy of each page (1 thru 3/4) and mark as original FQIC. Keep for future reference (possible use).
(3) Temporarily replace the FQIC 3QT with a serviceable item (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-400-001).
NOTE : Make sure that the FQIC to be installed is of the same type as
____
that removed (Ref. IPC 28-42-34).
NOTE : The step (3) has been included because it is important to make
____ sure that the FQIC 3QT is the cause of the malfunction before you start more steps.
(4) If the message FQIC 3QT is not shown, complete the installation of the FQIC (3QT) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-400-001).
(5) If the message FQIC 3QT is shown:
(a) Push the line key to the right of the FQIC 3QT message to get the troubleshooting data (Ref. TSM PB 301).
1 Print out a copy of the FQIC 3QT trouble shooting data and
_ mark as temporary FQIC. Keep for future reference (possible use).
(b) Do an Interrogation of the FQIS Input Parameters Pages (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-00-740-003).
1 Print out a copy of each page (1 thru 3/4) and mark as
_ temporary FQIC. Keep for future reference (possible use).
