 (2) Do an Interrogation of the FQIS Input Parameters Pages (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-00-740-003).


 (a) Print out a copy of each page (1 thru 3/4) and mark as original FQIC. Keep for future reference (possible use).

 (3) Temporarily replace the FQIC 3QT with a serviceable item (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-400-001).
 NOTE : Make sure that the FQIC to be installed is of the same type as
____
 that removed (Ref. IPC 28-42-34).

 NOTE : The step (3) has been included because it is important to make
____ sure that the FQIC 3QT is the cause of the malfunction before you start more steps.
 (4) If the message FQIC 3QT is not shown, complete the installation of the FQIC (3QT) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-400-001).

 (5) If the message FQIC 3QT is shown:


 (a) Push the line key to the right of the FQIC 3QT message to get the troubleshooting data (Ref. TSM PB 301).
 1 Print out a copy of the FQIC 3QT trouble shooting data and
_ mark as temporary FQIC. Keep for future reference (possible use).
 (b) Do an Interrogation of the FQIS Input Parameters Pages (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-00-740-003).
 1 Print out a copy of each page (1 thru 3/4) and mark as
_ temporary FQIC. Keep for future reference (possible use).
 (c) Remove the temporary replacement FQIC 3QT (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-000-001).

 (d) Install the initial FQIC 3QT (Ref. AMM TASK 28-42-34-400-001).

 (e) Do the test given in Para. 3.B.


 (6) If the fault continues, get the MCDU print outs of the Trouble shooting data and the FQIS Input parameters Pages you obtained in steps (1)(a), (2)(a) and (5)(a)1_, (5)(b)1_.

 (7) Decode the Trouble shooting data (Ref. TSM PB 301) and make a record of the result.

 (8) Examine all of the FQIS Input Parameters Pages (paper printouts) and look for a value or values (any) that can cause a possible malfunction, for example:

 - compare fuel probe parameters (values - CAD K, DENS, CIC K, INNTEMP, OUTTEMP,PITCH F and ROLL F) with the others given on page 1 for similarity of the fuel conditions and ambient temperatures

 - compare fuel probe capacitance values with the value of the same probe in the opposite wing or group

 - look for blank indications (of related capacitance values) for a harness group.
 (a) If (on the parameter page 1) the PITCH shows A and and the ROLL shows A:
 1 Set the ADIRS to OFF.
_

 2 Go (return) to Para. 3.B. (4) and start from there again.
_

 NOTE : An A, after PITCH and ROLL, shows that the pitch and
____ roll inputs are from the ADIRS. To eliminate the external pitch and roll inputs as the possible cause of the FQI fluctuations, the ADIRS must be set to OFF. An F, after PITCH and ROLL, shows that the pitch and roll has been made by the FQIS internally.
 (9) If necessary, monitor the FQIS Input Parameters Pages at the MCDU screen live. Look for an abnormal value, an intermittent value or one that is seen to have unexplained fluctuations.
 NOTE : The FQIS input parameter pages are not automatically updated.
____ To see the operation of the fuel system via the CFDS (FUEL), Input Parameter pages in real time the pages must be continually updated. Use the NEXT PAGE control on the MCDU to cycle the pages to update the screen. If this procedure is not used/adopted the pages will remain as they were at the time of the page (menu option) selection.
 (10) Make an analysis from the TS Data and Input Parameter results (paper printouts obtained in steps (1), (2), (5) and from the MCDU screen direct in step (9)) with those that follow:
 (a) If the quality of the aircraft fuel is unknown (you are not sure of):
 1 Defuel all the aircraft tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-
_
 001).


 a Drain the remaining fuel (and water) from the all the tanks
_ to make sure that there is no water in the tanks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003) (and if applicable (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-005)).
 b Do a check of the aircraft log to see that the
_ microbiological contamination of the aircraft fuel tanks procedure has been complied with. If necessary, do (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-00-600-004) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-00-600-007).
