 Check and if necessary, reset the datum zero position of the Asymmetry Position Pick-off Unit (APPU) (Ref. TASK 27-51-00-820-001).


 NOTE : It is possible that the rigging pins cannot now be installed
____ at the track 3 and the track 4 positions. When the flaps are in the correct rigged position, you must not install the rigging pins.
 (Ref. Fig. 519/TASK 27-51-00-991-069)
 (4) At the track 4 position remove the KIT-FLAP RIGGING as follows:
 (a)
 Remove the carriage restraint (30).

 (b)
 Remove the pin (22) and remove the fin (21) from the base assembly (23).

 (c)
 Loosen the knurled screws (27) and remove the base assembly (23) from the flap track beam (28).

 (5) At the track 3 position, remove the KIT-FLAP RIGGING as follows:
 (a)
 Remove the carriage restraint (30).

 (b)
 Remove the setting block (20). (Ref. Fig. 520/TASK 27-51-00-991-070)

 (c)
 If applicable, adjust the forward eccentrics back to the trailing edge value as shown on the label (41) at track 3. Adjust the forward eccentrics at track 3 and track 4 as follows:


 (Ref. Fig. 522/TASK 27-51-00-991-072)
 1_ At track 3 use a ruler-steel and measure the dimension L (the
 distance between the fin and the bottom of the flap trailing
 edge).

 a For a '+' value the dimension L must be 10 mm (0.3937 in.)
_ plus the value shown.
 b For a '-' value the dimension L must be 10 mm (0.3937 in.)
_ minus the value shown.
 2 At the outboard end of the flap measure the dimension N
_ (between the outer fixed shroud and the top surface of the flap).
 a For a '+' value the dimension N must be zero +/- 0.5 mm
_ (0.0196 in.) plus the value shown
 b For a '-' value the dimension N must be zero +/-0.5 mm
_ (0.0196 in.) minus the value shown.
 3 Adjust each forward eccentric in sequence (in small equal
_ increments). Do this until the indicated position of the flap is correct.
 (d)
 Remove the pin (22) and remove the fin (21) from the base assembly (23).

 (e)
 Loosen the knurled screws (27) and remove the base assembly (23) from the flap track beam (28).


 (6) Safety the outboard flap forward eccentrics (Ref. TASK 27-54-62-400-001).

 (7) Measure and if necessary, adjust the flap guide-roller assembly (Ref. TASK 27-54-63-400-001).

 F. Complete the Adjustment of Rigged Position of the Outboard Flap
 (Ref. Fig. 520/TASK 27-51-00-991-070)
 (1) If applicable, adjust the forward eccentrics back to the value shown on the label (41) at track 3. Adjust the forward eccentrics at track 3 and track 4 in sequence (in small increments).
 NOTE : Label (41) shows the assymetric offset value. This is the
____ adjustment applied to the forward eccentric bearing in the flap drive strut at tracks 3 and 4. The adjustment is necessary on some aircraft to give the correct aerodymamic balance:
 -
a plus (+) value shows that the flap trailing edge must be moved up

 -
a minus (-) value shows that the flap trailing edge must be moved down

 -
a zero (0) value shows that no adjustment is necessary.

 At the outboard end of the flap measure the the dimension N (the vertical distance between the outer fixed shroud and the top surface of the flap):


 1_ For a '+' value, the top surface of the flap must align (+/-
1.0 mm (0.0393 in.)) with:
 - the line above zero on the scale block (20) which is the
 same as the label value.
 2_ For a '-' value, the top surface of the flap must align (+/-
1.0 mm (0.0393 in.)) with:
 - the line below zero on the scale block (20) which is the
 same as the label value.
 NOTE : The scale block has 1 millimeter graduations.____
