A. General
(1) Inspection requirements
R R R R (a) The dust particles can be of different dimensions, they can go into all orifices and cause erosion, etching or shot peening on the surface. The dust can stay: - on all exposed lubricated surfaces - in all corners - in bottom areas test The dust can cause contamination on all filter elements.
(b) All the necessary inspections are visual unless the text gives other instructions. Operators can refer to the Non-destructive Testing Manual (NTM) and use non-destructive procedures.
R R (c) If you find damage to the aircraft structure, refer to the Structural Repair Manual (SRM). The SRM has the approved damage limits and repair procedures.
(d) If you find damage to paint/protection, refer to the Structural Repair Manual (SRM). The SRM has the approved paint/protection repair procedures.
(e) Examine the aircraft surfaces, structures, systems for contamination, erosion/abrasion, dents, etching, delamination or other damage.
Subtask 05-51-25-210-063
B. Inspection Preparation
(1) If contamination occurs in flight or during landing or take off:
(a)
Before you start, we recommend that you get information from the crew about the flight conditions.
(b)
Make sure that you have the related aircraft Post Flight Report (PFR).
(c)
Do a check of all the events reported by the crew or by the PFR in addition/conjunction with this inspection.
(2) If contamination occurred with the aircraft in the parking R configuration, it is not necessary to do a check of the systems which R have the applicable protective covers/devices if you do not find dust
behind them.
Subtask 05-51-25-481-051
C. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the safety devices are installed on the landing gears (Ref. TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
Subtask 05-51-25-866-052
D. Extension of the Flight Control Surfaces
(1)
Extend the flaps (Ref. TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(2)
Extend the slats (Ref. TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
(3)
Extend the spoilers (Ref. TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
Subtask 05-51-25-010-051
E. Get Access
(1)
Open the main gear doors and install the safety devices (Ref. TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2)
Open the nose gear doors and install the safety devices (Ref. TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
Subtask 05-51-25-860-051
F. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1)
Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001)
(2)
De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
(3)
Put warning notices in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the systems.
R (4) Put an adjustable access platform in position near the area you must R examine.
4. Procedure
_________
Subtask 05-51-25-160-051
A. Cleaning of the Aircraft CAUTION : DO NOT RUB THE SURFACE WHEN YOU REMOVE THE DUST FROM THE
_______ AIRCRAFT. IF YOU RUB THE SURFACE, YOU CAN CAUSE EROSION/ ABRASION.
CAUTION : DO NOT USE FLUIDS TO REMOVE THE DUST. IF THERE IS A LAYER OF
_______ DUST ON THE AIRCRAFT SURFACES, REMOVE THE DUST WITH A VACUUM CLEANER (OR, IF YOU CANNOT USE A VACUUM CLEANER, USE AN AIR BLOWER, A SOFT CLOTH OR A HAND BRUSH). FLUIDS CAN MIX WITH THE DUST AND MAKE A PASTE THAT CAN CAUSE EROSION/ABRASION. THIS PASTE CAN GO INTO AREAS THAT ARE NOT EASY TO CLEAN.
(1)
If there is a layer of dust on the aircraft surfaces, remove the dust with a vacuum cleaner, an air blower, a soft cloth or a soft brush.
