4. Horizontal Stabilizer Trim Control System - Adjustment______________________________________________________
A. General
(1)
AIRPLANES WITH STAB TRIM LEVERS ON THE CONTROL STAND; for the correct horizontal stabilizer adjustment position, move the STAB TRIM levers until Dimension B on the stabilizer ballscrew actuator is 19.07 | 0.01 inches (484.3 +/- 0.25 mm) (Fig. 502).
(2)
AIRPLANES WITH ALTERNATE STAB SWITCHES ON THE CONTROL STAND; for the correct horizontal stabilizer adjustment position, move the alternate stab trim switches until Dimension B on the stabilizer ballscrew actuator is 19.07 | 0.01 inches
(484.4 +/- 0.25 mm) (Fig. 502).
(3)
This procedure contains instructions to adjust the stabilizer trim control system. Adjustment of the system is done in the specified procedures. Each procedure must be completed before subsequent procedures are started.
(4)
The adjustment for the Horizontal Stabilizer Trim Control includes these topics:
-Control Lever Rod for the Stabilizer Trim Control Module
-Body Cables
-
Limit Switch, Position Transmitter Module, and Travel Limit Mechanism
-
Limit Switch and Position Transmitter Module
-Stabilizer Trim Cutoff Switches
(5)
When correctly adjusted, the stabilizer-trim control system operates smoothly through its full travel range and the components are in the conditions that follow:

MAINTENANCE MANUAL
1) Correctly adjusted arming and control servo levers (on the stabilizer-trim control-modules) will be between the index marks on the lever stop plate when the STAB TRIM control levers are in the neutral position (Fig. 502).
AIRPLANES WITH STAB TRIM LEVERS ON THE CONTROL STAND;
Stabilizer Body Cables ST1A, ST1B, ST2A, ST2B
NOTE: If the cables do not have all the conditions that
____ follow, they must be adjusted as specified in paragraph (G).
1) With all cables correctly tightened and the STAB TRIM levers in neutral, cable adjustment is correct if rig pins E/ST1 and E/ST2 can be put in freely.
2) Tensions in cables ST1A, ST1B, ST2A, and ST2B are correct if the cable tensions are in the tolerance for the ambient temperature.
Limit Switch and Position Transmitter Module and Travel Limit
Mechanism
1) The limit switch and position transmitter modules are correctly adjusted if: a) Tensions in cables SL and SP are 50 | 5 lbs (222 +/- 22 newtons). b) AIRPLANES WITH STAB TRIM LEVERS ON THE CONTROL STAND; rig pins E/ST1, E/ST3, E/ST4, and E/ST5 can be put in freely when Dimension B on the stabilizer ballscrew actuator is 19.07 | 0.01 inches
(484.4 +/- 0.25 mm).
c) AIRPLANES WITH ALTERNATE STAB TRIM SWITCHES ON THE CONTROL STAND; rig pins E/ST3, E/ST4, and E/ST5 can be put in freely when Dimension B on the stabilizer ballscrew actuator is 19.07 | 0.07 inches (484.4 +/- 1.7 mm).
2) AIRPLANES WITH STAB TRIM LEVERS ON THE CONTROL STAND; the travel limit mechanism is correctly adjusted if cables SLA and SLB are adjusted such that: a) The stop lugs on the lower end of the ballnuts are
between 60 to 210 degrees from the stop lugs on the gearbox upper flange.
