8. Operation

A. Functional Description
(1) Stowed Position of the Thrust Reverser (Fig. 5)
(a) When the forward thrust lever is at the idle position, the reverse thrust lever is in the stow position, and the thrust reverser is stowed, the interlock actuator for the thrust lever is in the retracted position. With the interlock actuator retracted, the forward thrust lever can be advanced but movements of the reverse thrust lever are restricted to the reverse idle range only.

(b)
The hydraulic actuators are in the retracted position. The center locking hydraulic actuators are locked.
(c)
The proximity sensor for the actuator lock on the center locking hydraulic actuators are in the target near condition. The deploy proximity sensor on each center actuator are target far condition. The proximity sensor for the auto restow on each reverser half are in target near condition.
(d)
The blocker doors for the thrust reverser are in the stowed position providing a smooth passage for fan air exhaust to produce thrust.
(2) Thrust Reverser Deployment
(a) The forward thrust levers must be in idle position before moving the reverse thrust levers. The reverse thrust levers are pulled up and back from stowed position to idle detent position. 1) An internal mechanical interlock for the forward/reverse
thrust lever prevents movement of the reverse thrust lever unless the forward thrust levers are in idle. This mechanical interlock is different from the interlock actuator operation.
