F. Install the Non-Locking Hydraulic Actuator for the Thrust Reverser
S 864-049-N00
(1)
Make sure the DO-NOT-OPERATE tags are installed on the forward thrust lever and reverse thrust lever.
S 864-050-N00
(2)
Make sure the thrust reverser sleeve is in the position
approximately one inch or less of the full stow position.
S 984-123-N00
(3)
If it is necessary, turn the flexshaft drive with a 3/16 inch (5.0 mm) square drive in the direction that fully retracts the actuator rod end.
S 224-051-N00
(4)
Make sure the distance (dimension A in Fig. 401) between the rod end collar and actuator cylinder is between 0.010-0.018 inch before the installation.
NOTE: A distance of 0.010-0.018 inch shows the full retract
____ position and is set when the hydraulic actuator is repaired on the bench rig. Reject the hydraulic actuator if the clearance is not satisfactory.
S 424-124-N00
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE ROD END OF THE HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR TURN OR BE
_______ TURNED WHEN YOU CONNECT IT TO THE THRUST REVERSER SLEEVE. IF THE ROD END IS TURNED, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR.
(5) Install the non-locking hydraulic actuator (3 or 7) (Fig. 403 or 404), with the rod end first, through the opening in the torque box.
(a) Align the hydraulic ports with the hydraulic tubes.

(6) Install the bolt (5), washers (6), nut (7), and cotter pin (9) which hold the rod end (2 or 5) to the thrust reverser sleeve (Fig. 401). (a) Tighten the castellated nut (7) to 20 pound-inches (2.66 newton-meters). (b) Tighten the nut (7) to the subsequent castellation. (c) Install the cotter pin (9). (d) Apply the sealant to the end of the bolt (5), nut (7) and cotter pin (9) to approximately 0.06 inch (1.5 mm) thickness.
