Department;
* Component Processing Packages (CPP) are developed for each part utilizing Fortner’s extensive
database, including OEM overhaul manuals, Service Bulletins, Manufacturing Drawings and the
many previously designed Fortner Repairs to identify repairable components;
* CCP’s include repair and test procedures, pertinent test fixture and/or component drawings;
* All repairs are in accordance with Fortner’s FAA-approved Engineering Standards Manual (FES81);
* Repairs determined to be “major” are accomplished using data authorized through the company’s onstaff
Designated Engineering Representative (DER);
* Prior to implementation, the Engineering staff will test the component to ensure
design performance of the Component Processing Package
ENGINEERING / REPAIR PHILOSOPHY
. “Repair, rather than replace”
The Engineering Department maintains a strong interface with the Hydraulic Test department, applying
the latest technologies for a true “state of the art” facility.
Some of the current instrumentation Fortner utilizes to validate the airworthiness of all repaired
components are Pressure, Velocity and Position Transducers, Precision Voltage Measuring and
Waveform Generation Devices, Strip Chart and X-Y Recorders and Computer based data acquisition and
testing equipment.
The Engineering Department’s strong working alliance with the other departments within our operation
forges a “team” effort to assure the highest quality within the repair industry. Additionally, the
Engineering staff is dedicated to “continuing education” by staying abreast of
current engineering and technical literature and attending technical conferences
and symposiums.
MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS
• Electronic Bills of Material (BoM) for each unique assembly and sub-assembly
down to the smallest part. The BoMincludes the disposition for each part (ie.,
standard replacement parts (SRP), non-standard replacement parts (NSRP),
repairable parts and scrap parts).
• A computer generated traveler for each part is used for both shop floor control
and the repair record.
• Work center prioritization management.
• Inventory control.
• Computer system for time and attendance.
• Technical documentation and tooling calibration control.
• All accounting functions integrated with operations.
