• 1952- Company founded as Fortner Engineering and Manufacturing with 6 employees; primary business is as
a parts manufacturer for Motorola, Airesearch and Rocketdyne
•1969- 15 employees; Fortner receives authorization to operate as FAA Repair Station
•1970’s- Commences business with McDonnell Douglas and grows steadily with the emergence of Lap
Assembly repair capabilities and enters the Hydraulic Component MRO business.
•1980- Fortner receives SFAR-36 approval from FAA becoming foundation for FAA Approved Fortner
Engineering Standards Manual- FES81.
•1980’s- Using SFAR-36 and DER approvals, Fortner develops in excess of 1,000 proprietary repairs for
previously expendable sub-components, primarily Lap Assemblies. US & Foreign operators increase use of
these services and growth continues.
•1990’s- Domestic operator outsourcing trends lead growth in Hydraulic Component LRU MRO. Business
globalization and increases in military sales further growth strategies.
•2000-2005 - 9/11 and the resulting fallout creates a business contraction cycle. Emphasis during this period
focuses on lowering costs, streamlining operations and new product development.
•2005 to Present – New product lines, continued industry outsourcing and competitive pricing via a low cost
structure enable Fortner to reach record gross revenues throughout the 2nd half of the decade.
