The AIM and NAV domains have developed draft guidance material and a "proof of concept" tool. However, it is critical that a coordinated approach across European States towards achieving enhanced data accuracy and integrity is established. A new Agency Implementation Programme is about to be launched to perform implementation actions between 2005-2007 and this future programme shall facilitate the development & provision of:

Airport Mapping:
1) Joint EUROCAE WG44 - RTCA SC193: The EUROCAE ED-99/RTCA DO-272 document "User requirements for airport mapping"
specifies the user requirements for aerodrome mapping database content and quality. The document currently forms the basis for an
RTCA/EUROCAE specification effort related to the creation of a common database interchange standard for aerodrome mapping.
This standard will be key to the implementation of new digital functions, such as Runway Incursion Prevention in the aviation domain.
It will enable common interchange between data originators, data integrators, and system designers, maintaining data integrity and
enhancing safety and efficiency. The exchange standard will be published late 2004.

2) Eurocontrol initiative:
Based on the EUROCAE WG44 standard, the AIM domain is defining an airport mapping data exchange schema (expected end 2004)
which will form a basis for airports to generate and exchange standardized and common information. The creation of a secured
distributed network of airport map servers could be envisaged as one way of making this information publicly available. The means to
do this will be investigated during 2004.
