R THESE MATERIALS ARE DANGEROUS : THEY ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE
R AND SKIN IRRITANTS.
R NOTE : The procedure that follows agrees with the (Ref. FAR 25.853(a-1))____
R (Fire resistant repairs to the passenger compartment).
R NOTE : The procedure is approved for repair of surfaces smaller than 24____
R in.2 (154.83 cm2).
R NOTE : The procedure is approved for repair of surfaces larger than 24____
R in.2 (154.83 cm2) , but only for parts of the component.
R (1) Clean the component with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-010) and a
R lint-free cotton cloth MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003).
R (2) Apply masking paper and BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No.
R 08-074) to the adjacent components and areas.
R (3) Make the repair area smooth with emery cloth, 320-400 grade.
R (4) Clean the repair area with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-010) and
R a lint-free cotton cloth MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003).
R (5) Prepare a mixture for a smooth finish.
R (a) Mix 15 parts by weight of STRUCTURE PAINTS (Material No. 16-046)
R (FST filler 414-12) and 1 part by weight of STRUCTURE PAINTS
R (Material No. 16-046) (hardener 402).
R (b) Add 10-30% STRUCTURE PAINTS (Material No. 16-046) (thinner 62) to
R get the necessary viscosity of 17-23 seconds, 4 mm (0.1574 in.)
R DIN cup.
R (c) Permit the mixture 15 minutes reaction time before use.
R NOTE : Pot life is 16 hours maximum.____
R It will be necessary to add thinner 62 after 8-10 hours to
R keep the necessary viscosity.
R NOTE : Conditions for use:____
R - Temperature between 15 DEG.C (59.00 DEG.F) and 30 DEG.C
R (86.00 DEG.F),
R - Relative humidity 35-75% .
R (d) For a smooth finish apply the mixture in 1-2 cross coats with a
R GUN - AIR SPRAY, STANDARD PAINT and a NOZZLE DIA 1.5 MM (1/16
R IN).
R NOTE : The necessary coat thickness of a smooth finish is between____
R 0.05 mm (0.0019 in.) and 0.1 mm (0.0039 in.).
R NOTE : The smooth finish is:____
R - Dust dry after 15 minutes,
R - Transport dry after 25 minutes,
R - Fully dry after 7 days at room temperature.
R Over-painting: Between 30 minutes and 12 hours.
R NOTE : If the drying time between the coats is more than 12____
R hours:
R - Clean the repair with STRUCTURE PAINTS (Material No. 16-
R 046) (thinner 62) and a lint-free cotton cloth
R MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003),
R or
R - Rub the repair with emery cloth, 320-400 grade and clean
R it with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-010) and a
R lint-free cotton cloth MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-
R 003).
R NOTE : You can rub or polish the coats after:____
R - 7.5 hours at room temperature,
R - 5 hours at 40 DEG.C (104.00 DEG.F),
R - 2 hours at 60 DEG.C (140.00 DEG.F).
R (6) Prepare a mixture for a textured finish.
R (a) Mix 20 parts by weight of STRUCTURE PAINTS (Material No. 16-047)
