3.2 Data Printer Interface Test
3.2.1 From the MIDU main menu, select the <ACARS menu option to access the main ACARS
menu.
3.2.2 From the main ACARS MENU, select the <MISC menu option; from the ACARS MISC
menu, select the MAINT> menu option; from the ACARS MAINTENANCE menu, select the
<STATUS menu option; and from the ACARS STATUS menu, select the <LRU menu option.
3.2.3 Verify on the ACARS LRU STATUS page that the PRINTER LRU field displays
ACTIVE.

3.2.4 Return to the ACARS MAINTENANCE menu and select the <TEST menu option.
3.2.5 From the ACARS TEST 1/2 screen, select the PRINTER <INITIATE option.
3.2.6 Verify that the <INITIATE text changes to TEST momentarily, then changes to <PASS
forapproximately 5 seconds and then changes back to <INITIATE and that the printer outputs a
fixed test message.

3.2.7 On the MIDU keypad press the MENU key to display the MIDU MCDU main menu.

3.2.9 On the ACMS Main Menu select the SPECIAL FUNCT / <REPROGRAMMING menu
option.
3.2.10 On the SPECIAL FUNCT / <REPROGRAMMING menu select the ACMS
INFORMATION> menu option.
3.2.11 On the DFDAU / ACMS LOADABLE SOFTWARE PART NUMBERS menu verify that
an asterisk .*. is displayed to the right of the PRINT* menu option.

3.3 ACMS/ACARS Interface Test
3.3.1 From the ACMS main menu, press LSK 1R to select the ALPHA> menu option.
3.3.2 From the ACMS Alpha Call-up Control menu, press LSK 1R to select the ALPHA MENU
<DISPLAY menu option.
3.3.3 Using the MIDU keypad, enter ACAR in the scratchpad and press LSK 1L to enter the
information. The screen should be displayed as shown in Figure 3-3-1.
NOTE: The data will be displayed in hexadecimal form adjacent to LSK 1R. The actual data
value will vary and is determined by the status of each label 270 bit as received from the
ACARS CMU.
3.3.4 Verify that a hexadecimal data value is displayed indicating that the ACARS CMU is board

casting properly.

3.3.5 Open the following circuit breaker on the P11 panel:
ACARS CMU-AC (C9000)
3.3.6 Verify that the hexadecimal data value is replaced with XXXXXXXX indicating that the
ACARS CMU is no longer board casting label 270 data.

3.3.7 Close the following circuit breaker on the P11 panel:
ACARS CMU-AC (C9000)
3.3.8 Press the MIDU MENU key and verify that the <ACARS menu options is displayed
adjacent to LSK 1L.
Note: It may take several minutes for the ACARS systems to initialize communication with
the MIDU.
3.3.9 From the MIDU main menu, select the <ACARS menu option to access the main ACARS
menu.
3.3.10 From the main ACARS MENU, select the <MISC menu option; from the ACARS MISC
menu, select the MAINT> menu option; from the ACARS MAINTENANCE menu, select the
<STATUS menu option; and from the ACARS STATUS menu, select the <LRU menu option.
3.3.11 Verify on the ACARS LRU STATUS page that the ACMS LRU field displays ACTIVE.
