1.0 INTRODUCTION
This document provides a procedure for checkout of aircraft installations of the
Honeywell Enhanced Ground Proximity/Windshear Warning System (EGPWS).
2.0 EFFECTIVITY
The procedures defined herein are effective for the EGPWS installation on the Boeing 757
using aircraft type 224.

TESTING PROCEDURES
The first step is to verify the power and ground inputs are correct. Then the test will utilize
the Built-In-Test (BIT) capabilities of the EGPWS to verify the ARINC 429 inputs, the analog input
discretes and the program pins.
6.1 Passing Criteria
All steps with the word VERIFY must pass in order to complete this test.
6.2 System Self Test
The following tests verify the installation through the BIT capabilities of the EGPWC.
A high level of confidence in the EGPWS installation can be achieved by initiating the EGPWS self
test. The EGPWS System Self Test is divided into six levels. These are:
Level 1 Long Self Test (includes Go / No Go Test).
Level 2 Current Faults.
Level 3 EGPWS Configuration.
Level 4 Fault History.
Level 5 Warning History.
Level 6 Discrete Input Test.
6.2.1 Self Test Initiation
Self Test is initiated by pressing the GND PROX test switch for less than 2 seconds.
NOTE: The Self Test Aural volume is 6 dB lower than the Warning Aural volume.
NOTE: During normal maintenance operation, the Self Test may be initiated via the SELF TEST
switch on the front of the EGPWC. However, for this test procedure only the GND PROX test
switch in the cockpit may be used as the GPWS test switch. Do not use the SELF-TEST switch
on the front of the EGPWC for this test procedure.
6.2.2 Self Test Short and Long Cancel
Short Cancel is accomplished by pressing and holding the GND PROX test switch for less than 2
seconds.
Long Cancel is accomplished by pressing and holding the GND PROX test switch for between 2 and
8 seconds.
6.2.3 Internal Global Positioning System (GPS) Card for Production Installations
NOTE: Aircraft must be in an area that can receive valid GPS position data (e.g. outside of
hangar or within hangar with GPS repeater).
1. Taxi or tow the aircraft to an unobstructed ramp position.

2. Push in EGPWS circuit breaker for system activation.
3. For an initial position fix of the EGPWS, allow up to 20 minutes for system to come
on line and to acquire satellites.
4. VERIFY the TERRAIN INOP light is not illuminated.
PASS FAIL
5. End of Internal GPS Test for Production Installations.
6.2.4 Self Test Level I — Long Self Test
Test Procedure:
1. Install the EGPWS into the rack or connect it to the Break-out Box and turn power on.
2. Ensure that all systems supplying data to the EGPWC are powered and operating correctly,
e.g.:
ADC #1 or #2 LRRA #1, #2, or #3
IRS #1or #2 FMC #1 or #2
ILS #1 or #2 DSWC #1 or #2
EFIS Control Panels #1 or #2 EFIS Displays #1 or #2
