1.2 Reason
China Southwest Airlines is replacing the existing Teledyne Digital Flight Data Acquisition
Unit(DFDAU) with a Honeywell Flight Data Acquisition Management System (FDAMS) to
support the latest Boeing defined dataframe for increased Flight Data Recorder (FDR) parameter
recording onboard their Boeing 757-200 aircraft. This engineering order directs the modification,
installation and checkout and is intended for use in conjunction with STC ST00961AT.
1.3 Description
The FDAMS system consists of a DFDAU and an Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS)
in a single ARINC 600, 6 MCU case. The instructions in this document direct the removal of the
existing DFDAU, M138 and replacement with a new Honeywell FDAMS (Honeywell Part
Number 967-0212-002). The existing LRU will be returned to stores for customer disposition.
This document also provides procedures to verify and/or update the DFDAU data frame and
ACMS software as necessary to support the parameter recording requirements of CFR
14.121.344(d) and optional ACMS optical Quick Access Recorder interface.
1.4 Approval
These accomplishment instructions have been reviewed by a representative of the Federal
AviationAdministration (FAA). The modifications specified in these accomplishment instructions
comply with the applicable Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) and are FAA approved.
1.5 Manpower
Approximately 4 to 8 man-hours are required to complete these accomplishment instructions. This
estimate includes the hours necessary to complete the Accomplishment Instruction of Section 3. It
does not include the time it may take schedule work, examine work, make parts,
locate tools, or return any disturbed systems to operational status. Additional time should also be

expected to perform the Ground Checkout Procedures in appendix A.
1.6 Material
China Southwest Airlines is to supply the LRU and materials for the installation of the FDAMS
DFDAU and database(s) in the aircraft listed in section 1.1 above.
1.7 Tooling
1. ARINC 615 Data Loader Portable (PDL) if database load is required.
2. Cable assembly, FDAMS DFDAU PDL Interface, Honeywell P/N 704-2382-001 (or equivalent)
if database load is required.
3. See appendix A for additional tooling required to conduct the ground checkout procedure.
