b. The following definitions shall apply:
Regular Airport An airport approved under scheduled service to a community as the regular
stop to that community.
Refueling Airport An airport approved as an airport to which flights may be dispatched only for
refueling.
Provisional Airport An airport approved for use by an air carrier for the purpose of providing
scheduled service to a community when the regular airport serving that
community is not available.
Alternate Airport An airport at which an aircraft may land if a landing at the intended airport
becomes inadvisable.
NOTE: Refueling and provisional airports are not applicable to Part 135 operations;

C0041 AUTOPILOT ENGAGEMENT AFTER TAKEOFF AND DURING INITIAL CLIMB FOR AUTO FLIGHT GUIDANCE
SYSTEM (AFGS) OPERATIONS
The certificate holder is authorized to engage the autopilot after takeoff and initial climb at an altitude
lower than specified for en route operation by CCAR 121.587(a) and 135.93(a), as appropriate, (150m
/ 500ft) and shall conduct all such operations in accordance with the provisions of this paragraph.
a. Limitations and provisions for authorizing altitudes lower than 150m (500ft) in accordance with
CCAR 121.587(d) or 135.93(e), as applicable:
(1) The pilot shall not engage the autopilot unless the AFGS being used is fully operational.
(2) If the Flight Standards Board (FSB) report sets an altitude higher than the Airplane Flight
Manual (AFM), the FSB-specified higher altitude sets the minimum altitude for autopilot
engagement after takeoff, or
(3) If the FSB report is not available, the lowest authorized altitude shall be the altitude specified
in the AFM, or
(4) If the FSB report sets a lower altitude than the AFM, the AFM value shall be used.
b. Authorized Minimum Altitudes. After takeoff and during the initial climb segment, the certificate
holder is authorized to engage the autopilot in the Control Wheel Steering or Command modes
as listed in the table below:

c. Flightcrew Training. The flightcrew must have successfully completed the certificate holder's
