B0023 OPERATIONS IN AREAS OF MAGNETIC UNRELIABILITY
The certificate holder is authorized to conduct operations in the areas of magnetic unreliability within
the areas of en route operation where this paragraph is referenced in paragraph B0039 of these
operations specifications using the aircraft, navigation equipment, and procedures specified in
subparagraph a. below, provided the provisions of this paragraph are met. The certificate holder shall
not conduct any other operations in areas of magnetic unreliability under these operations
specifications.
a. The certificate holder shall not conduct operations in areas of magnetic unreliability unless the
required navigation equipment is installed and operational and the following procedures are used
for the aircraft listed below:

b. Special Limitations and Provisions.
(1) The certificate holder shall not conduct operations in areas of magnetic unreliability, unless
the certificate holder's approved training program provides training in the equipment and
special procedures to be used.
(2) Except when navigation is performed under the supervision of a check airman properly
qualified for operations in areas of magnetic unreliability, any flight crewmember used in these
operations must be qualified in accordance with the certificate holder's approved training
program for the navigation system and procedures being used. Any flight crewmember
performing under the supervision of a check airman shall have satisfactorily completed the
ground school portion of that approved training program.
