(3) Crimping
R (Ref. Fig. 004)
R - Select the applicable crimping tool.
- Make sure that the insulation sleeve is on the wires.
(For E0807 WX 26 cable, make sure that the heat shielded sleeve
ABS1471-09 is on the wires).
- Put one end of the splice in the crimping tool die.
- Make sure that the splice is in the correct position against the
positioner.
- Close the crimping tool handles sufficiently to hold the splice in
position but do not crimp at this stage.
- Put the stripped end of the wire in the splice barrel.
- Hold the wire tightly in the barrel.
- Crimp the splice. To do this, fully close the tool handles until
the safety ratchet releases.
- Remove the splice from the crimping tool.
- Do the same procedure for the other end of the splice.
- Do a check to make sure that the splicing is correct.
____NOTE : The two crimping operations must be along the brazing seam
centerline and positioned on the same side.
(4) Insulation sleeve shrinking
R ____NOTE : The minimum shrinking temperature for E0541 is 340 deg.C
(644.00 deg.F).
R (a) For all the cable types:
R - Put the E0541 insulation sleeve in the correct position on the
R splice.
R - Select the applicable tool.
R
R - Shrink the sleeve with the applicable tool.
R - Make sure that the sleeve is in the correct condition.
R (b) Only for E0807 WX 26 cable , ABS1471-09 installation:
R - Before shrinking, make sure that the length of assembly
R (insulation to insulation) is 90 mm (3.5433 in.).
R - Center the heat shielded sleeve ABS1471-09 on the crimped
R assembly.
R - Shrink the sleeve with the STEINEL generator HG3000SLE.
R - Heat the center of the sleeve until it shrinks.
R - Continue heating and shrink the sleeve slowly, working towards
R the edges and checking that the tin melts correctly.
R
R - Make sure that the sleeve is in the correct condition.

B. P/N Characteristics
____NOTE : NSA936803 is an assembly which has :
-an adapter NSA936810-XX
-
a sleeve NSA936811-XX
-
a splice NSA936812-XX Two type of barrels can be available but the installation is the same.
(1) Temperature Minimum operating temperature is -55 deg.C (-67.00 deg.F). Maximum operating temperature is 260 deg.C (500.00 deg.F).
C. Connection Procedure R (Ref. Fig. 007, 008)
(1)
Insulation
Do the insulation with the crimp sleeve delivered.
Install this sleeve on the wire before stripping.
Sleeve crimping is made after splice crimping.
(2)
Wire stripping
-Use the applicable tool.
-Strip the wire to the length "A" .
(3)
Crimping
-Use the applicable crimping tool related to the splice reference number.
-Make sure that the insulation sleeve is installed on the wire .
-If necessary, install the adapters on the wire.
