(2) Operation in menu mode The menu mode corresponds to a phase of maintenance on the ground. In this mode, the computer displays a menu on the screen. The selection of the menu items is made with keys placed adjacent to the lines displayed on the side of the screen. The procedure is conversational. This means that the operator can call certain sub-functions of the menu (for example : self test, reminder of the last failures) and receive in return this information in plain language.
(a)
Menu to be transmitted (Ref. Fig. 009) When the menu is transmitted, the computer stops to send the label 356 and waits until a new item is necessary or a signal of end of operation in menu mode is given.
(b)
Selection of the pages For the selection of one of the available items, you push one of the keys adjacent to the MCDU display lines. The label 227 will be transmitted with the line key code as a command code; then the protocol used is the same as for the main menu.
1 "LAST LEG REPORT" item
_ (Ref. Fig. 010) This item contains the faults recorded during the last leg. It contents will be transferred into the "PREVIOUS LEGS REPORT" item at the start of the next flight, i.e. at takeoff (the signal used will come from the ARINC). The GMT time of occurrence, the ATA chapter and the functional identification number, if applicable, will be given with each fault message.

2 "PREVIOUS LEGS REPORT" item
_ (Ref. Fig. 011) This item contains the faults recorded during the last 63 flights. If the computer has been used on several aircraft, a different page will be displayed for each aircraft; the registration number of the aircraft will always be shown in the left upper corner of the display. The GMT time of occurrence, the ATA chapter, the flight leg and the functional identification number, if applicable, will be given with each fault message.
3 "LRU IDENTIFICATION" item
_ (Ref. Fig. 012) This item contains the Part Numbers of the different LRUs included in the TPIS.
4 "REF PRESSURE" item
_ (Ref. Fig. 013) This item contains the values of the reference pressures wired at the back of the computer rack.
5 "TEST" item
_ (Ref. Fig. 014) When you call this item, you start an initialization test. The results will be displayed with the same terminology as for the other items but not memorized. While the test is done, the "TEST IN PROGRESS" message will be shown in the center of the display. If the self test finds no anomaly, the "TEST OK" message will be shown in the center of the display.
6 "GROUND FAULTS" item
_ (Ref. Fig. 015) This item contains all the (class 1, 2 and 3) faults that occurred on the ground, with the same terminology as for the other items. Remember that the capacity of the corresponding memory field is 3 faults for the last 64 flights.
7 "TROUBLE SHOOTING DATA" item
_ (Ref. Fig. 016) This item contains additional data that can be used to make a more complete analysis of any fault recorded on the ground or in flight. The flight phase and the date and time of the occurrence of the fault will be given.
