(1) Operation in the Normal mode (Ref. Fig. 006) During a flight, as soon as a fault is detected by the BSCU BITE, it is sent to the CFDIU. These faults are sent in plain English in accordance with the ISO 5 encoding, through the ARINC 429 link, under the label 356.

(2) Transmission in the Interactive mode
R (Ref. Fig. 007) The Interactive mode corresponds to a maintenance phase on the ground. In this mode, the computer displays a menu on the screen. The selection of the menu items is made with keys placed at level of the lines displayed on the side of the screen. The procedure is conversational. This means that the operator can call certain sub-functions of the menu (for example: self test, reminder of the last faults) and receive this information in plain language in return. The main menu is used to access following items:
