D. BITE CFDS The TPIS computer is of the BITE (built-in test equipment) system type, which means it can do some self-monitoring. The TPIS is connected to the CFDS through a bi-directional ARINC 429 link (2 bus). This link permits to transmit fault messages, which are AIM (ISO5) coded, in two operation modes:

Operation in normal mode,

Operation in menu mode.


 (1) Operation in normal mode In flight when a fault is detected by the TPIS BITE, it is transmitted to the CFDIU. These faults are sent in plain English according to the AIM (ISO5) code through the ARINC 429 link on the label 356.
