______________________________________________________
 1. BITE and Maintenance Test
_________________________ (Ref. Fig. 001) Depending on the different phases of flight, the BSCU automatically triggers the tests below:
 -Power-up test,
-Auto test: flight with the landing gear retracted during the power supply rise,
-Functional test: in flight with the landing gear extended until touchdown of the main gear,
-Tachometer test: rolling without brake application,
 -
Permanent monitoring: during operation of the braking or steering system.

 A.
 Power-up Test

 (1)
Cold reset At every energization, the BSCU performs the tests below:

-reading of the aircraft pin programming. A comparison is made between the values acquired by the COM and MON channels and a reference value stored in memory on the computing board. If the comparison is not effective, it is possible to adapt the aircraft pin programming to the BSCU via the CFDIU.
 -
test on CPU boards and associated circuitry,

 -
test on RAMs,

-consistency and checksum tests on OBRM.

 (2)
Hot reset The hot reset is activated when one engine at least is running and when one tachometer speed is at least higher than 1 m/s (aircraft moving). The hot reset initialization time is faster than the cold reset one by limiting the number of tests (during this reset).

 B.
Operation of the Functional Test The functional test starts as soon as the gears are locked down. Its purpose is to do the test of the hydraulic equipment under pressure and the electronic control components of the systems 1 and 2. It also permits to monitor the availability of the automatic braking and of the nosewheel steering systems until the touchdown. This is to meet the safety requirements of a CAT III B landing. To this effect the BSCU sends 4 availability discretes to the 2 FMGCs. A checksum test of the computing board OBRM is performed during all the functional tests on the active and passive systems. An alternate-current monitoring test is activated during the functional test. The functional test has two parts, running on the active system:
