SERVICING (CLEANING AND WASHING) - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
____________________________________________________________
1. General_______
A. The airplane exterior and interior should be washed frequently in order to maintain its appearance and minimize corrosion and staining. Exterior cleaning instructions are presented in Section 12-25-01.
B. The airplane interior is exposed to a great variety of soils, and, with its plastics, leathers, metals, painted surfaces and rubber, presents entirely different cleaning requirements and procedures than those used for airplane exterior cleaning. Refer to 25-00-00/701 for cleaning airplane interior.
C. Most cleaners recommended for use are corrosive or abrasive to some degree. Care should be exercised to ensure that they are used as directed in the concentrations called out so that premature deterioration of the material or surface or other undesirable effects can be avoided. Masking requirements and protective clothing and equipment recommendations should be followed to minimize delayed effects of the compounds used.

AIRPLANE CLEANING (CLEAN AND POLISH) - SERVICING
________________________________________________
1. General_______
A. Two tasks are supplied in this procedure. The first task is to clean the airplane exterior. The second task is to polish the airplane exterior.
B. Use this procedure to clean and polish the external surfaces of the airplane. Clean the external surfaces frequently to help prevent corrosion and to extend the life of the airplane structure. Clean the surfaces that do not have paint more frequently than the painted surfaces.
C. The liquids used in this procedure can cause injury to the skin and eyes, or damage to the airplane. Always wear clothing that will prevent injury when you clean the airplane. The cleaners can cause corrosion if they are not removed completely from the airplane surfaces. The solvent that is mixed with the cleaners is flammable. Keep the solvent away from sources of heat.
D. Failure to remove covers from pitot probes or coverings from static ports before flight may cause large errors in airspeed-sensing and altitude-sensing signals, which may lead to loss of safe flight.
