a) Apply sealant to fill the cracks or replace sealant removed for check (no more steps are necessary).
3) If there are cracks that go to the lug surface, do these steps: a) Look for corrosion on the lug surface adjacent to the
bushing flange.
NOTE: You can clean the lug surface (in the area
____ of the cracks) with a cloth that is moist with solvent.
b) Remove sealant until you can see all of the corrosion.
c) If you see corrosion on the lug surface adjacent to the bushing flange, you must replace the bushing and repair the lug surface at or before a subsequent maintenance interval.
d) Apply a red witness line or an equivalent identification mark.
NOTE: This will help you find bushings that will need
____ the compound applied at a subsequent maintenance interval
e) Remove 0.10-0.20 inch of sealant at two or more locations (for example, the bottom or outboard side of the bushing) to let the moisture out of the joint when you apply the compound.

f) Apply a spray of compound between the bushing flange and the lug surface.
g) Lubricate the joint again to remove all compound from the joint.
